RECENT GRADUATE of
Brandeis University, Sidney
Goldfader, staff representative
for the Detroit Associates of
Brandeis, heaved his over 200
pound frame over the line as
fullback for Coach Benny
Friedman . . . but achieved
his greatest athletic recogni-
tion as a fine catcher on the
baseball squad . . . He is now
under contract to the Mil-
waukee Braves . . . While still
trying to get over the shock
of the Braves losing the World
Series, Sidney has been con-
centrating on his post here
. . . and especially the coming
black tie dinner-dance being
given by the Detroit Associates
of Brandeis University . . .
Nov. 8 . . . at Hotel Sheraton-
Cadillac . . . It'll be the 7th
annual affair by the group
which started out with only
30 members to raise funds for
the nation's first Jewish non-
sectarian university that had
opened its doors only three
years before . . . It's roster is
now over 400, composed of
folks who have donated $100
or more to Brandeis . . . The
first shindig, seven years ago,
hit only 50 . . . but last year's
affair, headlined by Sam Lev-
enson, brought out 500 . . .
This time, Chester Colen,
president of the Detroit As-
sociates of Brandeis University,
and his committee have come
up with another top-notch gro-
g r a m, spotlighting Harr y
Hershfield, funny story teller
excellente, and Max Lerner,
famous author, newspaperman
and teacher.
