An Open Letter
To the Community:

My Fellow Citizens:
A great day is dawning. On November 4, I am confident
that Michigan voters will proclaim to the country at large that
their spokesman in the United States Senate will be our distin-
guished Lieutenant Governor, Philip A. Hart.

He has earned the victory -we foresee for him. He is one of
the most brilliant public officials we ever had.

He is a liberal and a humanitarian, and his sense of justice
elevates him in the high regard of our citizens.

Such a deserving public official has earned not only a vic-
tory but an overwhelming vote.

The American principle of "to bigotry no sanction" is sacred
to our candidate for United States Senator.

The "notorious Kamp pamphlets", preaching anti-Semitism,
have been condemned in no uncertain terms by Mr. Hart. He has
joined in unmasking bigotry. Let us honor him for it.

-.
My appeal, therefore, is for a very large vote, for so tremen-
dous a majority, that the country will know that Michigan joins in
rebuking reactionary tactics in- many quarters in our Government.

Go to the polls on November 4! Vote for Philip A. Hart! You
will be rewarded in the knowledge that loyalty to our citizenry
is appreciated and that a man who stands for the highest prin-
ciples of justice and humanity will represent us in the United
States Senate.
