Adolph Deutsch, prominent
businessman and communal fig-
ure, will celebrate his 77th
birthday ahead of schedule,
when he is interviewed at 10:05
a.m. today,
over the Mary
Morgan radio
show on
CKLW.

The energetic business leader
waved aside the idea of retir-
ing when he was 65, and instead
has spent a busy 12 years work-
ing on ideas to expand his
American Savings and Loan
Association to a network of
seven branches with assets over
$78.000,000.
Though he now sits behind
a huge desk in his thickly-
carpeted office in the company-
owned Citizens Bldg., he still
maintains a "grass-roots rela-
tionship with people, sometimes
appraising as many as 35 homes
a day.
Coming to Detroit in 1921, he
worked for a bank, established
an investment company and
later founded Citizens Mortgage
Co. and other enterprises. He
started American Savings in
1947.

sons, Alfred, currently treas-
urer of American Savings, and
Charles, a Flint business execu-
tive. A third son, Lt. (j.g.) Rob-
ert Deutsch died in service in
1944. The Deutsches have seven
grandchildren.
