Anti-Semitism's
Roots Reported
by UNESCO
UNITED NATIONS, (AJP)—
The UNESCO Courier, the offi-
cial publication of the United
Nations Education) Scientific
and Cultural Organization, dis-
cusses "The Roots of Preju-
dice" against Jews and others
in its current issue. The article,
by Arnold M. Rose, is taken
from a booklet in a UNESCO
series entitled "The Race Ques-
tion in Modern Science." Rose's
work is being serialized and the
current third part relates to the
origin of hatred toward the
Jews.
"At church or Sunday
school," the article • stresses,
Christian children may learn
about the Bible story that the
Jews killed Christ. Biblical
scholars point out that only a
few Jews were against Jesus
. . . It was the Romans that
punished people . . . But Sun-
day school teachers do not al-
ways point out these facts. To
make matters worse, they some-
times identify the people of
ancient Palestine with the Jews
living in the present-day Europe
and America, and transfer the
blame for a crime that hap-
pened two thousand years ago
onto a people who are living
today . . ."
Turning to the question of
"scapegoats", the article states:
"One thing that helped Hitler
secure power in Germany was
his persuading the German peo-
ple that the Jews were the
cause of all their troubles . . •
Thus, people often follow the
politicians who make them feel
better. But having a scapegoat
does not really solve any pro-
blems . . . The big depression
in the 1930s saw the birth, in
the United States, of 114 organ-
izations which spent their time
and money in spreading hate
against Jews . . . The leaders
of these organizations hoped to
get control of the governments
of their countries by following
the anti - Semitic propaganda
that had been so successful in
Germany . • . They did succeed
in creating hatred and fear of
the Jews. It is known that many
of these same people are now
waiting for the next depression
or the next war to come along
so that they can finish their
work . ."

Moroccan Youth Begin
Anti-Zionist Campaign
PARIS (JTA)—A fresh anti-
Zionist campaign has been
launched by a Moroccan youth
movement, the National Stu-
dent Movement.
At a conference of the stu-
dentgroup held at Tetuan, Mo-
rocco, a resolution was adopted
condemning "Zionist propagan-
da" and calling on Moroccan
Jews to "integrate." The reso-
lution said that Zionist propa-
ganda was splitting the Mo-
roccan people by "misleading"
Jews into emigrating from the
country.
Additionally, it asked that
passports not be denied Jews,
but that each such document
be stamped "Jewish religion"
across the face.
During the coming
week Yeshiva Beth Ye-
