JERUSALEM (JTA)—As P.
Assante. Ghana's first Ambas-
sador to Israel, was scheduled
to arrive here, it was learned
that a number of Western For-
eign Ministries, including the
State Department, had pre-
vailed upon 'Accra not to open
its embassy in Jerusalem but
in Tel Aviv.
This is part of the Western
nation's refusal to grant diplo-
matic recognition to Jerusalem
as Israel's capital.
It is hoped that eventually
the Ghanians will rescind their
decision and move the embassy
to Jerusalem. Meanwhile, it is
understood that the Tel Aviv
embassy will be opened within
a month.

A Book of Blasphemy and Shame
Based on Old Anti-Zionist Views

By JOSEF FRAENKEL

"The Transformation. The Case of Naturei Karta"
by I. Domb (London. 1958)

With the appearance of Leo Pinsker's "Auto-Emancipation"

came into prominence, gener-

Canada Jewish Groups
Ask Liberalization of
Immigration Statutes

OTTAWA (JTA)—The Cana-
dian Jewish Congress and the
Immigrant Aid Society of
Canada presented a joint brief
to Minister of Immigration Mrs.
E 11 e n Fairclough requesting
liberalization of regulations re-
ferring to entry of potential
immigrants from Europe and
Africa. The Jewish delegation
included Saul Hayes, CJC ex-
ecutive director, and J. Seagall,
JIAS president.
Meanwhile, it became known
that Canadian legislation pro-
viding for the processing of
immigration applicants of first
degree relatives now resident
in Israel have become effective.
Eligible for entry are spouses,
children, siblings, parent s,
grand parents, unmarried
nieces and nephews or persons
affianced to Canadian citizens
or permanent residents of
Canada.
The Canadian Jewish Con-
gress also reported that Prime
Minister John Diefenbaker has
introduced legislation in Parli-
ment to put into statutory law

Fine Neo-Nazi Editor for
Passing False Information

BONN (JTA)—A Bonn court
has imposed a suspended five-
month sentence on the editor
of a neo-Nazi magazine for
falsely declaring that the lead-
er of the Social Democratic
Party in West Germany had
promised, if elected Chancellor,
to send German troops and
arms to Israel to help the
Jewish State.
The court convicted and sen-
tenced Otto Karl Duepow for
also writing in the pro-Arab

"Deutsch Afrika Orient Infor-
mation" that Erich 011enhauer,
the Social Democratic Party

chieftain, was married to a
Jewish woman and that their
daughter had volunteered to
serve in the Israeli Army. The
prosecution had charged that
the statements were libelous.

self into the town, so that
the Sabbath should not be
desecrated. And in Jerusalem
the Chalukkah Jews (today's
Naturei Karta) had erected a
triumphal arch for Kaiser
Wilhelm, and the Jerusalem
Rabbi Meyr called upon Herzl
in his hotel.
According to Jewish law,
Herzl, because of his health,
would even have been per-
mitted to drive to his hotel.
The Satmarer Rebbe Joel
Teitelbaum also drove on the
holy Sabbath. Naturally, his
Chassid, Domb, is silent about
this. And of all people it was
the Zionist Israel Kastner, who
saved the Satmarer Rebbe from
the Nazis. It was on June 30,
1944, a Friday afternoon, that
he stepped into a train, with
a scarf wrapped round his face
to hide his beard and peyes,
and rode on the holy Sabbath.
But no one will reproach Rebbe
Teitelbaum, the spiritual leader
of "Naturei Karta," on account
of this, for to save one's life,
one may also ride on a Sabbath.
But it is not permissible, even
for a member of the "Naturei
Karta," to demonstrate on a
Sabbath, to throw stones, to
beat up policemen or to de-
nounce Israel. In my old home-
town they even tore down Jew-
ish National Fund posters on
Yom Kippur in the synagogue.
