Credit Two Women
with 'Teacher' Honors

Recently, the columns of The
Jewish News carried a story
on the selection of Fan Bunin,
a sixth grade teacher at the
Bagley School as "Teacher of
the Month," in which it was
stated that she was the first
Jewish teacher to receive this
honor.
Actually, it was eight years
ago that The Jewish News cited
Mary Cohen, a kindergarten
teacher at the Lincoln School
for winning this special award .
of the Detroit Teachers Asso-
ciation.
Miss Cohen, of 2331 Elm-
hurst, was nominated for the
honor by a petition signed by
269 parents of her school chil-
dren. She has taught at Lincoln
School during her entire
career.
Interestingly enough, Miss
Cohen herself, began her
schooling at the Bishop School,
only a few blocks away from
Lincoln, at 561 Brady.
She is a member of Donald
Fox Chapter of Bnai Brith and
the Business and Professional
Group of Hadassah.

Mrs. I. JEROME HAUSER,
(left) a board member of the
Women's Division of the Jew-
ish Welfare Federation, and
Mrs. HAROLD ROBINSON,
newly-elected vice-president of
the division, are shown as they
left for a three-week survey of
UJA - financed programs in
Israel. The women will return
to Detroit on Tuesday.
