There will be a preview and
reception for well-known De-
troit artist Harry Packman
from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, the
opening day of his one-man
show, which will run through
Nov. 1, at Garelick's Gallery,
20208 Livernois.
The show, Packman's second
one-man exhibition at Gare-
lick's, represents his most re-
cent_ works.
Packman has been showing
and participating regularly in
all major museum and gallery
exhibitions. His work is perma-
nently represented in public
as well as in important private
collections. He is the recipient
of a number of art prizes, in-
cluding the Butler Museum
prize for outstanding painting
in 1953.

JWV Shrine Project
Granted Tax-Free Status

The National Shrine for the
Jewish War Dead, a memorial
to be erected in Washington,
D. C., by the Jewish War Vet-
erans, has been recognized by
Congress as a corporate part of
the JWV as a non-profit and
tax-free movement.
Instrumental in the passage
of Public Law 85-903, which
granted the project its non-
profit status, and named in the
body of the law, was Harry T.
Madison, of Oak Park, a past
national commander of JWV.
