In reply to a question about
the possibility of an Israeli at-
tack now, Nasser said: "As far
as I am concerned, I expect an
attack from Israel against the
Arabs at any moment. The U.S.,
Britain and France support Is-
rael. These states may consider
that Israel should complete her
armed intervention, which be-
gan last July following the
Iraqi revolution when the Am-
erican forces occupied Lebanon
and the British forces followed
their step and occupied Jordan
after flying over Israel."
In the course of the inter-
view, the editor of Blitz refer-
red to the leaders of Western
Europe and America whose
"only subject of talk and sole
preoccupation" since the revo-
lution in Iraq had been the
"imperialist policy of aggrand-
izement" of the UAR. "It ap-
pears that they truly believe
that you will not be satsified
with the leadership of the Arab
forces throughout Western Asia
and North Africa alone, but
that you will cross the Mediter-
ranean to occupy Europe as
well. What is your reply to this
campaign?"
Nasser found himself "sur-
prised that educated people,
who are supposed to be civil-
ized, should believe such non-
sense" and continued: "We
must therefore look for the rea-
sons and sources of such cam-
paigns. They are the work of
world Zionism which desires to
create hatred against us. This is
the real danger which threatens
the establishment of a new Hit-
lerism. We are not the cause. A
French journalist told me re-
cently how France is gradually
coming under Zionist influence,
While the Americans themselves
complain of Zionist control of
their propaganda. The same sit-
uation is true with respect to
the British." The Indian jour-
nalist commented: "This is very
strange, Mr. President." It was
as this point that he was handed
the copy of the 'Protocols.'
Later, Nasser pronounced: "I
know that imperialism and Zion-
ism go side by side. I know also
that they not only compare me
with Hitler, but also with Stal-
in. They fear for their economic
interests because of the Afro-
Asian revolution and therefore
exploit the methods of racial
and religious propaganda. If
they wish to protect their econ-
omic interests from collapse or
decay, they must realize the

We are ready to deal with them

A violent anti-Jewish attack,
ascribed to the "Grand Mufti of
the Syrian Region of the United
Arab Republic and President of
the Higher Islamic Connell",
was broadcast from Moscow in
one of its Arabic language
transmissions shortly before the
Day of Atonement, says the
World Jewish Congress Infor-
mation Department.
The broadcast appeared to be
the recording of a talk by Dr.
Abu al-Yusr Abdin, the Grand
Mufti of Syria and Islamic
Council President, who spoke
of his return from a visit to the
Soviet Union and declared' that
the Gospel's injunction about
turning the other cheek gave
no license "for stealing the for-
tunes of a country's people and
turning them into refugees or
killing the women and children
of the 11/laghrib."
"The fact is," said Dr. Abdin,
"that the policy of the Jews
which dominates the West —
the Jews who tried to kill Jesus
Christ — insists on thrusting
the followers of Jesus Christ
into a terrible war of unpredic-
table horror. The Jews are
spreading evil among the na-
tions. The enemies of religion
and peace should fear God and
know that God is watching
them. Peace be with you."
Arab Boycott Office
Blacklists World Vessels
LONDON, (WJA) — The Of-
fice for Boycott of Israel in
Baghdad has decided to black-
liSt three Danish, one Norweg-
ian, three German, three Dutch
and two American ships "for
breaking the Arab boycott of
Israel," reports the Middle East
News Agency.
Israel to Counteract
Moscow's Trade Boycott
JERUSALEM, (JTA) — Is-
rael was pictured as consider-
ing steps to counteract the com-
plete trade boycott imposed by
Moscow against it for the past
two years.
Until now leading Israelis
have not publicly indicated con-
cern with the Soviet Union's
economic campaign launched
during the Sinai Operation
when the USSR unilaterally
cancelled an oil-for-citrus agree-
ment. Since then, in a crude
mockery of an arbitration hear-
ing Israel's claims for damages
resulting from breach of the
oil pact were rejected by the
Moscow Chamber of Commerce,
arbitration authority under the
terms of the pact. A number of
other, lesser trade agreements
have been broken.
In their eagerness to dis-
credit Israel and to discour-
age Russian Jews from want-
ing to go there, Soviet author-
ities have organized mass
meetings for Jews in various
cities where "tourists" who
recently visited Israel get up
and testify 'to the allegedly
horrible conditions of life in
that country, it was learned
here in a letter from a Jew
living in the USSR to a rela-
tive here. The writer indi-
cates that Rusian Jews do not
believe the calumnies being
spread by the "tourists," who
were members of the first
group of Russians to visit this
country since its establish-
ment. However, there are
hints in the letter that Rus-
sian Jews are concerned over
the possible effects of such
a slander campaign.
The letter, which was repro-
duced in the local press, says
that tourists not only describe
the "horrors" of life in Israel,
but also show slides and short
films on Israel. In some of
them, isolated slums are des-
cribed as typical housing in
Israel. One "tourist" in a series
of newspaper articles has des-
cribed the "unbearable suffer-
ings" of the immigrants to Is-
rael and the miserable food,
housing and employment con-
ditions said to abound in the
Jewish State.
