JERUSALEM. - Some 2,000
high school teachers started a
nationwide strike Wednesday in
a bid for higher salaries. They
demanded the same salaries as
those paid engineers employed
by the Israel government.
The strike was authorized by
the High School Teachers' Asso-
ciation, but it was opposed by
the teachers' section of the Hist-
adrut which repeatedly urged
the teachers to ignore the asso-
ciation's strike call.

NEW YORK, (JTA) - The
establishment of the Seven Stars
Line to provide fast, frequent
and dependable freight service
between the United States and
West Africa, was announced on
behalf of the Zim Israel Naviga-
tion Company by the American-
Israeli Shipping Company, U.S.
representatives of the Zim line.
The new service, employing
both Israel-flag and chartered
vessels, will be inaugurated by
the "Clivia" which starts loading
for U.S. ports on Oct. 24 at Lobi-
to, Portuguese Angola, the an-
nouncement said.
The "Clivia," also loading
cargo at Luanda, Matadi, Dou-
ala, Lagos, Takoradi, 'Abidjan
and Monrovia, is due in New
York about Nov. 21, and will
sail for West Africa about Nov.
28. Subsequent sailings will be
made by the "Dagan" and the
"Lealott," the former ship offer-
ing space for refrigerated cargo..
