"Fabulous" is the only way
to describe "M" Week, latest
plan of the Student Council.
Included in "M" Week, Oct. 6
to 10, is a parade with floats,
constructed by school clubs,
a pep rally before the football
game with Pershing High, and
the coronation of the Queen of
"M" Week.
Each organization will nom-
inate a female member for the
crown and automatically has its
candidate chosen if its display
is selected as best in the pa-
rade.
Climaxing the week of excite-
ment, is "The Kickoff," a cas-
ual dance to be held Oct. 10,
8:30 p.m., in the Mumford gym.

IvIumford's P.T-A will hold its
first meeting Oct. 21, at 8:15
p.m. Plans for College Night,
to be at Mumford this year,
will be discussed. Among last
year's accomplishment, the as-
sociation donated five scholar-
ships, totaling $1.300.

Dave Rottenberg was honored
as an outstanding teen-ager by
the American Legion at the
Farm-City Youth Awards Ban-
quet during the Michigan State
Fair. Aside from editing The
Mercury, the school paper, Dave
was a representative to Wolver-
ine Boys' State, won a varsity
letter in golf, and received a
Detroit News Scholastic Writing
Award.

Mrs. Chajes Plans Eighth Annual Concert

A concert of old classical and
contemporary Austrian and
Swiss music will be presented
at 8:30 p.m., Oct. 8, in the lec-
ture hall of the Detroit Institute
of Arts, under the artistic di-
rection of Marguerite Kozenn
Chajes.
Among the participating art-
ists will be l'Iargit Kormendy,
contralto; Marilyn Jones, flut-
ist; Carolyn Jewell, Virginia
Catanese and Lawrence LaGore,
pianists. Detroit Symphony per-
formers who will be heard are

Habonim Leader
to Settle in Israel

Habonim, the Labor Zionist
youth organization, will bid bon
voyage to David Fineberg, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fineberg,
of 15886 LaSalle, who is leaving
this month to make his perma-
nent home in Israel.
Before going to the Jewish
state, where he will settle in
Kibbutz Urim, David will tour
through Europe. At Urim, in
Israel's Negev, he will join with
other members of Garin Daled,
the fourth kibbutz group of
American Habonim.
Since its settlement by Ameri-
can members of Haboniin in
Kibbutz Urim has at-
1949,
tracted numbers of European_
and Israeli Habonim, as well as
Americans.
After graduating from Cen-
tral High School in 1956, David
participated in the sixth Habo-
nim Workshop in Israel, spend-
ing a year working and study-
ing at Kfar Blum, a kibbutz in
the Upper Galilee.
He became a youth leader in
the movement on his return
home to Detroit, but has had
