Sets Holiday Services

Sabbath services at Young
Israel Center of Oak-Woods will
take place at. 6:25 p.m. today,
and at 9 a.m., Saturday, when
the Bar Mitzvahs of Steven
Leader and Mark Smith will be
observed.
Announcement also was made
by Jack Ginsburg, newly-elected
president of the synagogue. that
Rosh Hashanah services will be
held at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Mon-
day and Tuesday, and at 8 a.m.,
Monday and Tuesday.
Morris Novetsky will chant
the morning services and sound
the Shofar, and Cantor David
Greenbaum will lead the main
musaph services. Rabbi Yaakov
I. Homnick will deliver the ser-
mons.
At auxiliary services, scha-
eharis will be chanted by Leon
Wolock, while Ben Weinstock
leads in the Musaph services.

Psychologist to Speak
at Sisterhood Opener

The Sisterhood of Young
Israel Center of. Oak-Woods will
launch its season's activities
Wednesday evening, when Dr.
Lee M. Shulman, clinical psy-
chologist, will speak at the syna-
gogue.
Dr. Shulman, formerly on the
staff of the University of Michi-
gan and now in private practice,
will discuss preparation of chil-
dren for attending school, with
emphasis on how home attitudes
affect the child.
A social hour will complete
the evening. Mrs. Irving Arlin.
program chairman, invites mem-
bers to bring their friends.
Other Sisterhood dates- are
Nov. 2 for the annual carnival
and Feb. 11, when the annual
donor luncheon will take place
at the Mayfair Room.

Sisterhood to Organize
Suburban Bridge League

The Beth Shalom Sisterhood
is planning a bridge league, to
meet on eight alternate Thurs-
days, beginning Oct. 16. Dupli-
cate bridge will be played and
lessons for beginners will be
offered, thus meeting the needs
of every type of player. For

temple office this week stated
that the congregation's Youth
Group was awarded the Temple
Youth Achievement Trophy at
the recent Michigan State Tem-
ple Youth conclave. The award
is given annually by the Michi-
gan State Federation of Temple
Sisterhoods.

Israel Bond Confab
Sets $50 Million Goal

JERUSALEM — The first In-
ternational Mobilization Confer-
ence for Israel Bonds to be held
on the soil of Israel concluded_
10 days of sessions this week
with a decision to raise an addi
tonal $50,000,000 in Israeli
Bond investments for economic
development before the end of
1958.
Pointing out that the dele-
gates have been impressed with
the productive investment of
the $350,000,000 raised through
Israel Bonds since May 1951, the
resolution expressed confidence
in Israel's speedy attainment of
econ omic independence and
pledged the delegates to
"strengthen our bonds of part-
nership with the people of Israel
through continued and con-
certed efforts in behalf of the
Israel Bond Campaign."

The return to Zion must be
preceded by our return to Juda-
