Elsea Realty Sr Investment
Co. reports that the bright spot
in the Real Estate picture today
is the easy financing. While it
takes a tedious two or three
months to close a sale requiring
an FHA mortgage, the commit-
ments are high and the terms
liberal.
However, this could be tem-
porary.
The control of credit has re-
cently been used to curb infla-
tion and is expected to be used
again. The next few weeks or
months could prove to be the
most opportune period to pur-
chase a home at a low price and
on easy terms. Recent wage in-
creases, the scarcity of suitable
land, and the increasing cost of
material — all contribute to-
wards higher prices.
The major problem in many
real estate offices is not lack of
buyers or financing, but short-
age of listings, the company re-
ports. Many owners are delay-
ing selling their used homes an-
ticipating higher prices later.
This thinking involves some
risk, for even though values go
higher, the tightening of mort-
gage money could add to the
difficulty of selling.
