Phyllis Band Weds
Allen Warren Seel

Phyllis Band, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Hyman Band, was
united in marriage to Allen
Warren Seel, son of Mrs. Shir-
. ley Seel, in a ceremony Aug. 9,
at which Rabbi Jacob Chinitz
and Cantor Shabtai Ackerman
officiated.

The bride wore a floor-length
gown of white silk taffeta high-
lighted by lace appliques. She
carried white orchids on a
Bible.

Mrs. Arnold Smith was the
bride's matron of honor. and
Emily Supian was maid of hon-
or. BridesmaidS were Mrs. Shel-
don Kremen, Marilyn Frankel,
"Ilene Rosenzweig and Sheery
Carpenter. The bride's two • sis-
ters, Beverly Delores and Shee-
ry Elaine Band, were flower

girls.

The bride's brother, Gerald
Band, attended Mr. Seel as his
best man, while Burton
Schwartz. Gerald Hoskowitz, Eu-
gene Smoler and Fred Band,
another brother of the bride.
were ushers. •
Following a honeymoon in
Miami Beach. Fla., the couple
will take up residence at. 18061
Indiana.

Institute Director to Speak

Moishe Haar, director of the
Sholem Aleichem Institute, will
speak on his experiences in Is-
rael and Europe this summer at
an oneg Shabbat planned for 9
p.m., today, at the Institute,

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob E. Steinhardt, of San Juan Dr., recently
tendered a dinner party in honor of the 15th wedding anniver-
sary of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ablitz. Among the guests were Dr.
and Mrs. Milton Steinhardt, Messrs. and Mesdames Mort Wein-
berg, Milt Weinstein, Jack Miller, Harry Weinstein, Joe Gut-
freund, Milton Bogrow and Mr. HerSchel Steinhardt.
Dr. Leon A. Katzin, a former Detroiter who now resides at
St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands, will be in town on. Saturday
and remain here until Tuesday. He will stay at the home of his
niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs: Harry Manheimer, of 8121
Marygrove.
Celebrating their 50th wedding ;anniversary at a family
dinner on Sunday will be Mr. and Mrs. Wolf Finkelstein, of Steel
Ave. Detroit residents nearly all of their lives, the couple has
been in business here for over 30 years. Joining in the festivities
will be the couple's children, Mr. and Mrs. Al Schwartz, Mr. and
Mrs. Emil Glick, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Finkelstein and Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Finkelstein, their 10 grandchildren and Mr. Finkel-
stein's sister, Mrs. P. Horowitz, of Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Schaver and son, Isaac, have returned
from a two month's stay in Israel.
The Misses Fern B. LaPides and Marilyn Franklyn have re-
turned from a vacation in South Haven.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Isaacs, of Sussex Ave., had as their house
guests over the Labor Day weekend their daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Lawrence Isaacs, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Fein-
stein, of St. Louis, Mo. A cocktail party and barbecue was given in
their honor by Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Brodie, of Avon Ave., Oak
Park, and they also were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Jordan
Isaacs, of Chippewa Ave.
In honor of the wedding of their son, Murray. Mr. and Mrs.
Louis J. Cooper, of 4023 Elmhurst, are entertaining the bride-
groom's grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Hybloom, and several aunts and
uncles from Cleveland, and some cousins from Norfolk, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Bider. in celebrating the forthcoming
wedding of their daughter. Wendy, are entertaining the bride's
grandmothers, Mrs. Helen Lana man and Mrs. Clara Marks, of
New York, an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Klein, of
Chicago, and Miss Marva Hoffman, of Buffalo, N.Y., who will be
a bridesmaid

Farband Branch Sets
Welcome Meeting

Arlazaroff branch of Farband
will meet at 8:30 p.m., Wednes-
day to welcome back members
who have visited Israel recent-
ly. These include Mr. and Mrs.
Morris L. Schaver, Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Schumer, Mr. and Mrs.
David Sislin and Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Mondry. The members
will report on their tours of
Israel and give their impres-
sions of the state.
While in Israel, Harry Schum-
er dedicated the opening of the
Harry Schumer Cultural Center
in Acco. Mr. and Mrs. Sislin
participated in the dedication
with Chaver Sislin representing
the city of Detroit and deliver-
ing a talk on their. behalf. While
in Israel, Mr. and Mrs. Schaver
dedicated the opening of a cul-
tural center in the city of Beer-
sheeba, built in honor of their
parents.
The program will also include
formulation of: plans for the
25th anniversary of the branch
and will conclude with a musi-
