Menasha Skulnik has been
popular with Detroit audiences
for nearly a generation. More
than 25 years ago, he kept his
Yiddish Theater audiences here
in stitches. At the old Littman
Theater on 12th Street, at
special performances at the Ma-
sonic Temple and at special
events that were arranged for
him several times by his friend
Harry Weinberg of the Jewish
Radio Hour, he was one of the
best liked actors on the Yiddish
stage.
Since then, he has made his
mark on Broadway and on tele-
vision and his performances
have won wide acclaim. Rightly
so. He has a voice all his own.
You can not imitate him. Nor is
his peculiar walk adaptable:
Skulnik is the creator of a
unique art that distinguishes
him on every stage.
He has been called "the Yid-
dish Charlie Chaplin." He has
transferred his style of acting
from the Jewish stage to be-
come the entertainer of millions
Wohl Sisters Stage
2nd Double Feature
in Maternity Roles
When two sisters gave birth
to their first youngsters last
year within two weeks of each
other, their friends were in-
clined to smile and say, "Well,
you girls always were so close
that WS not surprising."
But, when they staged a re-
peat performance again this
year, this time giving birth to
daughters within three days of
one another at Providence Hos-
pital, it left most everyone
speechless, including the nurses
at the hospital, who well re-
membered their visit a year
ago.
On July 24, a daughter. Debra
Michele. was born to Mr. and
Mrs. Al Kemper, of 24651
Scotia, Oak Park. Mrs. Kemper
is the former Gladys Wohl.
Three days later, Gladys' sis-
ter, Leda Wohl, now Mrs. Milton
Gorlovsky, presented her hus-
band with a daughter, Thea
Wendy. The Gorlovskys live at
20412 • Snowden Ct. Their first
daughter is Cheri Pam.
Last year when Mrs. Kemper
had her first youngster, a son,
Ross Hilton. she missed having
him on her birthday, July 4, by
a day, Ross being born on July
3.
This year, it was sister Leda's
turn to score a near miss. Her
birthday is July 26. Thea Wendy
was born July 27.
