Three Liberal Legislators Kowalski, Dingman,
Dzendzel—Targets of Biased Political Leaflet

Three Michigan legislators—
State Representatives Joseph J.
Kowalski, Fred Dingman and
Raymond D. Dzendzel — were
made targets of a race-hate pam-
phlet that was distributed this
week on the eve of the Primary
Election set for next Tuesday.
Kowalski, who lives at 9164
Steel, is especially attacked for
having sponsored a bill in the
State Legislature to prohibit dis-
crimination iti real estate trans-
actions. For having backed his
measure. Dingman and Dzendzel
also are condemned.

Actually, the original Ko-
walski bill called for penalties
not only for discrimination in
real estate transactions and in
housing, but also in education,
employment and other human
relations efforts.
The leaflets. which specifical-
ly mentions the "race or color"
question and refers to Kowal-
ski's District No. 10 as being
"nearly all white," states that
it was issued by the National
Civic Association of 1141 E. 7
Mile Rd. It calls for the defeat

of the three liberal legislators
and suggests a list of names of
its candidates.
Kowalski and Dingman are
candidates for re-election to the
State Legislature. Dzendzel is a
candidate for the State Senate.
The three candidates are be-
ing highly commended for their
efforts by Catholic and Protest-
ant organizations and by many
Jewish community leaders, and
they have the unanimous en-
dorsement of labor organiza-
tions.
