MISS CHERRILL ALFOU

At a recent dinner in Evans-
ton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Alfou, former Detroiters, now
of 4301 E. 7th, Tucson, Ariz.,
announced the engagement of
their daughter, Cherrill Miriam,
to William H. Anson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bernard Anson, of 728
Dobson, Evanston.
Miss Alfou is a junior in the
Medill school of journalism at
Northwestern University, where
she is affiliated with Alpha
Epsilon Phi sorority.
Mr. Anson is a graduate of
Illinois Institute of Technology
and is currently an engineer
while studying for his master's
degree in psychology at North-
western. The wedding is planned
..for July 6, at Detroit's Temple
Israel.

nounce the marriage on May 29
of their daughter, Beatrice, to
Samuel Redstone. The couple
is residing at 3353 W. Boston.

riage of their daughter, Judith
Ellen, to Herbert Marvin Klein,
son of Mr. and Mrs. David Klein,
of Detroit. The wedding was
solemnized in Chicago in. the
presence of the immediate fami-
lies. Julian Klein served as his
brother's best man.

KOENIG-LAZLO. Announce-
ment is made of the marriage on
June 3 in Detroit of Ruth Helen
Lazio, of Saginaw, Mich., and
Richard Koenig, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Koenig, of 19478
Winthrop. The couple plans to
take sup permanent residence in
Whittier, Calif., where they each
have teaching contracts.

Jim Gottfurcht to Attend
DECA Conference in D.C.

Jim Gottfurcht, vice-president
of the central region of the Dis-
tributive Education Training
Clubs of America has been
selected to attend the DECA
annual training conference in
Washington, D.C., next week.
He will also represent the
region at a national convention
next year. Jim is the son of Mr.
Leo Gottfurcht, of 17133 Rose-
lawn.

Hadassah to Honor New Members at H-Day Luncheon Tuesday

New members of the Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah and their
sponsors will be honored at the
organization's H-Day, to be held
Tuesday afternoon, in the home
of Mrs. Dorothy Turkel, on W.
7 Mile Rd.
Mrs. Jack Boxer, chairman of
the day, has planned a day of
food and entertainment, begin-
ning at 12:30 p.m. with a garden
luncheon.
Mrs. Samuel Rhodes, a former
group president and Chapter
vice-president, will be the day's
guest speaker.
The membership drive is con-
ducted under the supervision
of Mrs. Max Warren, vice-presi-
dent of membership, who is
assisted by Mesdames Maurice
Perlman, integration;, Samuel
Croll, arrangements; Morris
Garfield, hospitality; Joseph
Ravit, telephone; Manuel Stoler,
records; and Reuben Bienstock,
adviser.
According to Mrs. David I.
Schachter, president of the De-
troit Chapter, the membership
program will f o l l o w on the
heels of the observance of Had-
assah Week in Israel, being cel-
ebrated from June 8 to 15.
Detroiters Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Schiller and Mrs. Alfred Feiler
are among the members of a
Hadassah pilgrimage, whiCh is
participating in receptions and
special events in Israel on this
occasion.
Using as its membership cam-
paign slogan, "It's No Mystery
How to Make History — Join

Hadassah," the local organiza-
tion is aiming to welcome new
recruits so that "we can re-
affirm our faith and solidarity
with Israel in the celebration
of its 10th anniversary," Mrs.
Warren said.

groups, including a Business
and Professional organization,
an Evening Group and two Jun-
ior Groups.
