Mrs. Lorber Dies at 76

Mrs. Fannie E. Lorber, foun-
der and president for over a
half-century of the Jewish Na-
tional Home for Asthmatic Chil-
dren at Denver, - died June 9
after a brief

Born in Rus-
sia, Oct. 4,
1881, Mrs. Lor-

this country and Denver in 1890.
In 1907, touched by the plight
of the dependent children of the
tubercular needy, Mrs. Lorber
with a group of other Denver
women founded the National
Home.
Currently the National Home
is providing free treatment for
five children from Michigan,
including two from Detroit. Na-
tional Home is represented in
the Detroit area by the Detroit
Junior League, Mrs. James A.
Golden, president, 19192 Wash-
burn, and the Detroit League
president, Mrs. Ben Stone, 3970
W. Outer Drive.

Rabbi Gerstenfeld Dies

NEW YORK (JTA) — Rabbi
Samuel Gerstenfeld, 85, author-
ity on Jewish law on marriage
and divorce and professor emeri-
tus of Talmud at Yeshiva Uni-
versity of New York, died Fri-
day at his home. He joined the
faculty of Yeshiva University
40 years ago, shortly after com-
ing to the United States. He had
served as an aide to the Chief
Rabbinate of the British Com-
monwealth.

ALBERT ELIAS, 5430 Long-

Tuesday. Survived by daughters,
Mrs. Max Mann and Mrs Robert
S. Striefling, and four grand-
children.
