Sorbonne Scholarship
Carole Karp, a sophomore at'
the University of Michigan, has
been awarded a scholarship
from Sweetbrier College in
Virginia to spend her junior
year stdying at Sorbonne in
Paris, France.
The scholarship winner had
previously won an award from
Experiment in International
Living to spend the summer
living in a French Province,
but relinquished it when learn-
ing of the Sorbonne invitation.
Carole, a French major,
maintains a high scholastic av-
erage. She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Karp, of
18611 Santa Barbara.
BOSTON. (JTA).—The
honorary degree of Doctor of
Laws was bestowed by the
Stonehill College, a Catholic
college in Massachusetts, upon
Dewey D. Stone, national Jewish
leader. Two other honorary de-
grees were given by the college
to Governor Foster Furcolo of
Massachusetts and Msgr. Fran-
cis J. Lally, editor of Pilot,
official organ of the Catholic
Church in Massachusetts.

exhibition, in honor of the 10th
anniversary of Israel will be
held from June 15 to 18 at the
New York Trade Show Build-
ing, 8th Ave. and W. 35th St.,

Walter G. Levine
Wins Doctorate
You can count on it
Walter G. Levine, a native
Detroiter who now resides in
New York, will receive a PhD.
degree in physiology at com-
mencement exercises of Wayne
State University this Thursday
evening, in the State Fair Co-
liseum.
Dr. Levine, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Reuben Levine, of 19497
Strathmoor, completed his doc-
toral work in the WSU depart-
ment of pharmacology and phy-
siology of the .college of medi-
cine.
A graduate of Central High
School and Temple Israel High
School, Dr. Levine received his
BS degree in pharmacy from
Wayne in 1952 and his MS de-
gree in 1954.
He is now associated with the
Albert Einstein college of medi-
cine of Yeshiva University in
New York, where he is engaged
in research work on a U.S. Gov-
ernment fellowship.
Dr. Levine, widely known in
Detroit as a pianist, was asso-
ciated for many years with Dick
Stein's orchestra. He also has
participated as musical director
and arranger in a number of
benefit shows sponsored by local
Jewish organizations.
Open house honoring Dr. Le-
vine, who is married to the for-
mer Linda Wendroff, of Kew
Gardens, N.Y., will be held by
his parents • this Saturday eve-
ning.
