33rd Folk Chorus Benjamin Tomarins
Concert Sunday Wed 50 Years

The Jewish Folk Chorus,
composed of 100 adult and
youthful singers, will hold its
33rd annual Spring Concert at
8 p.m., Sunday in the Scot-
tish Rite Cathedral of Ma-
sonic Temple.
The- two-part program will
open with a special portion
dedicated to the celebration of
I s r a el's 10th anniversary.
Israeli, American and Yiddish
folk songs will be presented.
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
will be commemorated in the
second portion, which is high-
lighted by the oratorio, "Fun
Vieg Lied Tzum Zieg Lied"
(From Cradle Song to Victory
Song).
The oratorio encompasses
songs of the life in Europe
from the first World War
through the Ghetto Uprising
and the end of the Hitler era.
The oratorio will be accom-
panied by interpretive dances.
Lillian Shapero, chroreographer,
will be joined by a dance
group.
Tickets are available in ad-
vance by calling Mrs. D. Mil-
gram, UN. 1-2606, or at the
door the evening of the per-
formance.

Four generations in the fam-
ily of Benjamin and Rebecca
Tomarin gathered last Sunday
at a family dinner in the cou-
ple's home, 3351 Sturtevant, to
celebrate their 50th wedding an-
niversary.
Married on May 29, 1908 in
Poland, Mr. Tomarin came to
the United States in 1912. His
wife joined him a year later.
For 45 years, Mr. Tomarin
has been engaged in the kosher
meat business, and is well-
known by all old-time De-
troiters.
The couple is a member of
Cong. Beth Shinuer and Cong.
David Ben Nuchim, and Mrs.
Tomarin is a member of Lach-
ver Ladies Aid Society and Ha-
dassad. They have four children,
Jack, Gilbert, Mary and Kay,
nine grandchildren and three
great grandchildren.
To, mark the occasion, the
family is inscribing their names
in the Jewish National Fund's
"Book of Life" in Jerusalem.
The Tomarins are planning a
trip to Israel next year.

Detroit Women's Committee of
Brandeis University.
