graduation ceremonies are be-
ing planned this week by syna-
gogues and community schools.

confirmands will be held in the
synagogue social hall on June 7.
Cong. Bnai David
Consecration s e r vices for
Bnai David graduates will be
held at 10 a.m., Sunday, in the
main hall of the congregation's
new building, 24350 Southfield.
The consecration class, assisted
by the Sisterhood, will present
a cantata, "From Promise to
Fulfillment," written by Rabbi
Hayim Donin and scored and
directed by Cantor Hyman J.
Adler. Other participants in-
clude Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Brandwine, Meyer Berman and
Rabbi Eric Greenbaum.
Beth Abraham School
The congregation's first con-
secration class will hold its
ceremonies at 10:30 a.m., June
8, in the synagogue main sanc-
tuary. The cantata, "Seven Gold-
en Buttons," directed by Israel
Fuchs and Mrs. Lillian Zellman,
will be performed by the con-
secrants, assisted by the Sister-
hood.
Rabbi Israel I. Halpern,
school principal Dr. Max Kapu-
stin and synagogue president
Benjamin Siegal will participate
in the program. A tea, hosted
by the consecrants' parents, will
follow the ceremonies.
United Jewish Folk Schools
Graduation of the United
Jewish Folk School will be cele-
brated at 7 p.m., June 17, at the
Hayim Greenberg Center, 19161
Schaefer, announced school
chairman Harry Mondry.

NW Young Israel
Elects Harry Blitz

Harry Blitz was elected presi-
dent of Young Israel of North-
west Detroit at the recent con-
gregational meeting. Serving
with him during the 1958-59
season will be the following:
Norman Sukenic and Sam
Belkin, vice-presidents; Albert
Friedman, treasurer; Albert
Schwartz, Gus Lew and Irving
Cane, secretaries.
Serving as members of the
board of directors will be Gil-
bert Averbuch, Milton Duchan,
Saul Wainer, Sam Sukenic,
Henry Smolinsky, Paul Broad,
Isaac Henig, Rudolph Kar, Abe
Kar, Arthur Klein, Samuel No-
vetsky, Theodore Weiss, Irving
Palman and Leon Goldman.
Installation ceremonies will
take place on June 22, in con-
junction with the annual ban-
quet of the congregation in the
synagogue building.

meeting of Atlas Shalom Syna-
