Following a hectic day of
campaigning, 12Bs elected their
senior officers, Friday, for the
ensuing year. Hearty congratu-
lations are extended to: Pat
Smith, president ; Barbara
Woods, veep; Lydia Berry, sec-
retary; Loretta Holt, treasurer.

The Student Council will be
selling a special Centennial
Handbook in all groups in• the
coming weeks. It will sell for
only 25c and will be a lasting
memory of Central's Centennial
year.

Congrats to Gabriela Weis-
berger, Sandra Lenhoff, Lydia
Berry and Pat Smith on their
recent selection as honor guards
for the June 18 Centennial
graduation ! ! !

After strenuous spring try-
outs, Judy Baker, Vinetta Jones,
Annette Grastly, and Jaqueline
Saunders were selected to re-
place the out-going seniors on
Central's cheering team.

Along with high school grad-
uation, three senior 'Lites have
also graduated from their re-
spective synagogue Sunday
Schools. They are: Joanne
Sparr; Temple Beth El, Eliza-
beth Simon and Beverly
Schwartz, Congregation Shaarey
Zedek.

After trouncing Cooley, 6',/, -0,
in the first round of the city
tennis championship, Mumford
netters went on to down U. of
D., 4-21/2 for the city crown.
Before smashing to victory for
the city championship, the Mus-
tangs whipped U. of D., 4-21/2,
for the East-Side title.
At a luncheon last month, 12
Mumfordites were honored • as
they became members of Quill
and Scroll, the international
honor society for high school
journalists. This award, given
once a year to seniors, signifies
outstanding work on publica-
tions along with a high scholas-
tic average.
Recipients of this honor were
Barbara Berman, Elizabeth Bor-
ger, Julie Elkin, Norman Levy,
John Marx, Anaruth Oslik, Dave
Pohlod, Sandra Sarko, Arline
Schachter, Bettie Schottenfels,
Susan Sloman and Barry Smiler.
Specially honored for their
outstanding service to the Mer-
cury, John Marx, Dave Pohlod,
Arline Schachter, and Bettie
Schottenfels received g o 1 d
feathers at the luncheon.
Next Thursday, June 5, will
be set aside for Senior Color
Day. The class colors, navy blue
and powder blue, will be worn
during this day.

Halevy-Circle Chorus to Introduce
New Work at 25th Jubilee Concert

Two piano-playing sister s,
Joyce and Joanne Weintraub,
both of whom are rated among
the finest young talents in De-
troit, will be among the guest
artists to appear at the 25th
Jubilee Concert of the Halevy-
Circle Chorus.
Scheduled for 8:30 p.m., Sun-
day, in the Detroit Institute of
Arts, the concert also will high-
light the appearance of Emily
Adams, first violinist with the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra,
and Cantor Jacob H. Sonenklar,
of Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Nationally - prominent singer,
composer and conductor Dan
Frohman, who is celebrating his
25th year as director of the
chorus, has prepared an espe-
cially diversified program for
this special anniversary occa-
sion.

combination of 10 songs com-
bined into one, for chorus, solo
and two pianos.
By popular demand, there
will be a repeat performance
of "Day of Judgment," which
was so well received last year.

voice choir will be featured in
the Frohman cantata.
Other composers who will be
represented on the program are
Lamkoff, Held, Hirshn, Wilen-
sky, Rubinstein, Weiner, Grieg,
Loesser, Low, Eisenshtat, Hei-
fetz, Dvorak, Jospe, Mendels-
sohn, Bloch, Tchaikowsky and
Sarasati.
Rebecca Frohman and Bella
Goldberg will accompany at the
piano throughout the concert.
Members of the chorus only
recently returned from Cleve-
land, where they presented
their annual concert at Sever-
ance Hall and were acclaimled
by critics in that city.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Panush, of
