Israel's Ambassador to France,
Yaacov Tsur, will be the guest
of honor at a "Decade of Prog-
ress" banquet celebrating the
10th anniversary of Israel's
statehood, it was announced
this week by John E. Lurie,
chairman of the celebration.
The banquet, one of a number
of events being planned by the
Israel Bond Organization, will
be held at 6:30 p.m., June 11,
at Temple Israel.
Other coming Bond events
will bring two other distin-
guished Israelis, Col. Shoshana
Gershom, commanding officer
of CHEN, the Women's Army
of Israel, and Zvi Kolitz, pro-
ducer of "Hill 24 Doesn't An-
swer," Israel's first full-length
feature film.
Ambassador Tsur, before as-
suming his present post, served

as Israel's first diplomatic rep-
resentative to Latin America,
and was appointed Minister
Plenipotentiary to Uruguay in
1948. He established the first
Israel Cultural Institute abroad
in Buenos Aires.
Prior to the establishment of
the Jewish state, Tsur was asso-
ciated with the Jewish Agency
for Palestine, and was appointed
the Agency's representative in
Egypt'as liaison officer between
the Jewish battalions from Pal-
estine and British headquarters
in Cairo.
A native of Poland, the Am-
bassador completed his educa-
tion at the Hebrew University
and pursued graduate studies at
the University of Florence,
Italy, and the Faculte des Let-
tres of the Sorbonne in Paris.
