Among the Detroiters arriving in Israel for the 10th anni-
versary celebrations this week were Mr. Morris Ring, Mr. Albert
Jochim and Mesdames Anna Kellerman, Thresa Ginsburg, Yetta
Becker, Pauline Schwartz and Irene Broder, who arrived at
Haifa aboard the SS Zion; Mesdames Toby Haas, Anna Silber-
stein and Naomi Strub, who came by El Al to Lydda Airport;
Mr. and Mrs. Kiva Nemer, Mr. Jacob Henock, Mr. Gregory Ross,
Mrs. Eva Hayman and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Gottleib, who ar-
rived on BEA; Mr. Paul Krause, Mr. Leon Kay and Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Lifshutz, who came by Air France; and Mrs. Norma
Hudosh, who traveled by KLM. All passages were arranged by
Jules Doneson Travel Agency, which advises that all European
carrier services to Israel have added additional facilities to
meet the increased traffic. Doneson, after meeting in Israel
with hotel owners, says that all clients are assured hotel space
during the anniversary activities.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Goldfine have returned from Cali-
fornia, and are residing in their new home at 18984 Prairie.
Miss Janet Statfeld, of 20463 Strathmoor, and Miss Phyllis
Pintkowski, of Royal Oak, are currently spending three weeks in
Miami Beach, Fla. Before returning home, they will spend three
in Chicago visiting relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Charness are now residing in their new
home at 8019 W. 7 Mile.
Mrs. David H. Cooperman and daughter, Frances, of 20020
St. Marys, spent the Passover holidays in New York visiting Mrs.
Cooperman's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Walter
Jonas, of Floral Park, Long Island, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Klein, formerly of Stoepel Ave., are now
residing at 1784 Normandy Dr., Apt. 3, Miami Beach, Fla.

AZA Softball League Swings Into Action

ular play. Games are played at

She has visited Israel, survey-
ing these projects.

Lipkin Debuts with
New York Opera Co.

New York critics praised the
debut of ex-Detroiter Seymour
Lipkin as conductor of the New
York City Opera Company.
Lipkin, directing the perform-
ance of -the opera company in
"Trouble in Tahiti," on Satur-
day night was cited for his "ut-
most poise in a promising
debut."
The former local prodigy was
the winner of the Rachmaninoff
Piano Award in 1948, and has
enjoyed a career for several
years now as a conductor and
pianist.
His operatic experience goes
back to the days when he was
a student at the Curtis Institute
of Music.
