Friday, April 18, 1958—THE DETROIT JEWIS H NEW S-6

In Israel, in the United States and here in Detroit
your Allied Jewish Campaign contribution helps create
and maintain essential life-saving services

...wasn't there always an Israel?

To these happy Israeli kids—there always was
an Israel! Wonderful, isn't it?
They don't know how brad was born.
They have yet to learn how ten years ago its
outnumbered, heroic people outfought six Arab
armies to insure freedom for themselves and
the refugees waiting to come.
They don't know about the DP camps
either. Yet twelve years ago that's where their
mothers and fathers were... some of the 250,000
Displaced Jews waiting to leave blood-soaked

Europe for a new life in a land of their own.
They don't even know about Hitler . . . how
fifteen years ago 6,000,000 innocent Jewish men,
women and kids like themselves were dying in
the Nazi slaughter.
Yes, it's wonderful. A whole generation is
growing up that will have to find out about
Hitler, the DP camps and the struggle for free-
dom, in history books.
In so many ways, all the work, sacrifice and
giving in the Israel story have been to achieve

,

just this happy outcome, until now 'a dream.
Your part in it all was the giving—through the
United Jewish Appeal. Result, you helped to
save and rebuild 920,000 lives—refugees you
brought to Israel.
Now—save and build more lives in Israel',
great 10th Anniversary Year.
Give your increased gift to the regular
United Jewish Appeal. Then give a great "over
and above" gift to the UJA Rescue Fund-.
Give today.
