Colorful pageantry, a noted
Israeli personality, an orchestra,
a dramatic presentation, and
Israeli dances will be featured
in the Detroit celAKation of
the tenth anniversary of Israel's
independence, Sunday, April 27,
8 p.m., at Ford Auditorium, Jef-

ferson at Woodward, it was
announced by Abe Kasle, chair-
man, and Morris Lieberman and
Samuel J. Rhodes, co-chairmen,
of the Detroit Committee for
the Celebration of Israel's Tenth
Anniversary.
This program will be the first
Protestants, Catholics Join in
Israel's Anniversary Celebration
NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
Pr otestant and Catholic
churches will join in the cele-
bration of Israel's 10th anni-
versary in New York which will
be held at the Polio Grounds
on April 27. More than 50,000
New Yorkers are expected to
attend the event.
The spokesman for the Pro-
testant faith will be Dr. Edwin
T. Dahlberg, president of the
National Council of Churches
of Christ in America; Msgr.
John A. Dunne, vice chancellor
of the Military Ordinariate of
the Roman Catholic Church,
will represent Francis Cardinal
Spellma n; General Moshe
Dayan, former Chief of Staff of
the Israel Army, and Israel
Ambassador Abba Eban, will
represent the State of Israel
at the celebration. General
Dayan is flying here from Israel
especially to participate in the
Polo Grounds anniversary pro-
gram.
Fifteen major Jewish organ-
izations have joined in the spon-
sorship of the affair.

youth and adults, to be arranged
during the course of the tenth
anniversary year by the Detroit
committee.
Yohanan Meroz, counselor of
the Embassy of Israel in Wash-
ington, who participated in the
Israeli fight for freedom, will
be the principal speaker. Also
appearing on the program will
be noted American personalities
and musical artists.

Three days of talks, discus-
sions and socials will be com-
bined with routine business
during the fifth regional con-
ference of the Jewish War
Veterans to be held this week-
end, in Detroit.
The Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel
will be the scene of registra-
tion of some 250 out-of-town
delegates, beginning this eve-
ning.
Sol Hoberman and Mrs. Jack
Schwartz, co-chairmen of the
convention committee, an-
nounce that a dinner, followed
by dancing and entertainment,
will be the convention high-
light. This will take place
Saturday night, at the JWV
Memorial Home.
A free five-day vacation for
two at Oakton Manor, on Lake
Pewaukee, Wis., will be
awarded.
Sunday's program will fea-
ture memorial services for
Jewish servicemen who died in
the service of their country,
followed by brunch and further
conference sessions. Mayor
Louis C. Miriani will be a spe-
cial guest.
At a session on Sunday
afternoon, I. S. Feuer, national
vice-commander, and other
members of the national ex-
ecutive committee, will report
on JWV's boycott of the Arab
boycott, recent bombings and
vandalism in the south and
other new developments.
Greetings will be extended
to the delegates by Ralph Ep-
stein, Department of Michigan
JWV commander, and Mrs.
Morton Oppenheim, Depart-
ment Auxiliary president.
New Labor Zionist Branch
to Salute Israel's Birthday
The newly - formed Young
Adult Branch of the Labor Zi-
onist Organization of America
will hold its first general meet-
ing at 8 p.m., Saturday, in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Elliot
Rappaport, 19695 Dale. There
will be a party in celebration
of Israel's 10th anniversary.
Cairo Broadcast in.Hebrezw Again
Asks Israel to Join Arabic Republic
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—A new
Hebrew broadcast by Radio
Cairo again invited Israel to
join the United Arab Republic
as the only permanent solution
for the peace of the Middle
East. Israel will maintain its
national independence under
the union, the announcer said,
and the entire region will pros-
per as a result of the final
eradication of the Israel-Arab
dispute.
In an interview with Look
magazine recently, Premier Da-
vid Ben-Gurion indicated that
Israel would be willing to in-
vestigate an earlier radio invi-
tation to join the UAR. How-
ever, he expressed the view that
the offer was merely propa-
ganda.

NEW YORK, (AJP)—Com-
poser Murry Kopita has written
a new song, "God Bless the Land
of Israel," as his contribution
to Israel's 10th anniversary.
