Marcel Marceau City Student to Wed Phyllis Pullberg Set for Recital
Phyllis Pullberg, widely ac- first prize in a city-wide Chopin
to Perform Here GirlfromKansas City claimed
Detroit pianist, will be contest for pianists. She has
heard in a recital at 8:30 p.m., been a regular television per-
at the Shubert
Thursday, at Baldwin Recital former for the last two years.

The world's greatest panto-
mimist, Marcel Marceau, comes
to the Shubert Theater, Sunday
evening, for a two weeks' en-
gagement. The celebrated
French artist, now on his sec-
ond tour of the United States
and Canada, will present a pro-
gram of his now famous style
exercises and "Bip" sketches
that won him ecstatic praise
from both critics and audience
when he made hiS debut on this
Continent in 1955-56. With him
will be two members of his
noted mime company—Gilles
Segal, who will appear in some
of his own pantomimes, and
Pierre Verry, who will again
act as the picturesque "Pre-
senter of the Cards" announcing
each sketch.
Marceau returned to the
United States following a year
and a half of repeated interna-
tional successes in the major
cities of Europe, South Ameri-
ca and Great Britain, as well
as a six months' sold-out en-
gagement at the Ambigu Thea-
ter in Paris with his full com-
pany, the only 100% mime com-
pany in existence.
By popular demand, Marceau
will add to his current program
several of the pantomimes that
are already familiar to Ameri-
can audiences because of his
guest appearances on major tel-
evision spectaculars during his
former stay. Among them will
be his so-called masterpiece,
"Birth, Maturity, Old Age and
Death," described by one critic
as a tour-de-force in which Mar-
ceau "in less than three min-
utes achieves what most novel-
ists cannot do in volumes."
