Miracle
" By ZELDA LANDSMAN
Out of the multitudes steeped
in deep misery;
Out of the shattered remnants
of their dignity;
Out of a sterile soil sprawled
to a stagnant sea;
Out of its lifeless, parched and
hardened artery;
Out of destruction, chaos and
catastrophe;
Out of contempt and prejudice
and enmity
This miracle of Israel's democ-
racy!
