To Take Public Note of
UN Rights Violations

UNITED NATIONS, N. Y.,
(JTA)—Israel and the United
States joined here in putting
through the Human Rights Com-
mission a resolution looking to-
ward the possibility that the UN
would make public a heretofore
confidential report about viola-
tions of human rights in coun-
tries throughout the world.
The resolution adopted, after
a plea by Dr. Maurice Perlzweig,
UN representative of the World
Jewish Congress, who asked for
such steps on the ground that
the world should know when-
ever governments are accused
of violations of human rights.
Dr. Perlzweig said that the Ku
Klux Klan type propaganda is
being disseminated not only in
the United States but also in
Sweden and other European
countries.

Israel bond sales drive on the
occasion of Israel's tenth an-

time in Holland's history that
such a wide spectrum of Chris-
tian support has been mobil-
ized on Israel's behalf.

Happy Birthday!

(An AJP Passover Feature)

by E. KISHON
It is a country so tiny that
there is no room to write its
name on the world-map.
It is the only country in the
world which is financed by its
taxpayers abroad.
It is a country which all the
time eats up its inhabitants, and
yet does not grow fat.
It is a country of boundless
boundaries.
It is a country where mothers
learn the mother-tongue from
their sons.
It is a country where the
fathers ate sour grapes, and the
children's teeth are excellent.
It is a country where one
writes Hebrew, reads English
and speaks Yiddish.
It is a country where every-
body has the right to speak his
mind, but there is no law forc-
ing anybody to listen.
It is the most enlightened
country in the region -- thanks
to the Arabs.
It is a country where all the
capital is concentrated in Jew-
ish hands—and there is much
grumbling because of this.
It is a country where one
could buy anything in the world
for his money—except an apart-
ment, which is very expensive.
It is a country where any
babe-in-arms may contradict his
papa's political views.
It is a country of elections,
but no choice.
It is a country which is an
organic part of its trade unions.
It is a country where a slip
of paper can move mountains,
but all the mountains beget is
speeches.
It is a country where nobody
wants to work, so they build a
new town in three days' time,
and go idle the rest of the week.
It is a country which pro-
duces less than it eats, and yet,
of all places, it is here that no-
body has ever died of hunger.
It is a country where nobody
expects miracles, but takes them
for granted.
It is a country where one calls
ministers simply "Moishe" —
and then almost dies with the
excitement of it.
It is the only country in the
region whose political regime is
the bus co-operative.
It is a country whose survival
is permanently endangered, and
yet; its inhabitants' ulcers are
caused by the neighbours from
above.
It is a country where every
human being is a soldier, and
every soldier is a human being.
It is the only country in which
I could live. It is my country.

LOS ANGELES (JTA)—The
demise of one of America's
most viciously anti-Semitic pub-
lications, "Williams Intelligence
Summary," was announced at
nearby Santa Ana by publisher
Robert Williams. In the March
1958 issue of the "newsletter,"
Williams reveals that his inabil-
ity to raise the necessary funds
will make this his last edition,
though he promises to make a
comeback at a later date.
This brings to a temporary
close a 10-year career in hate-
mongering by Williams who
began his "publishing" interest
under the aegis of pamphleteer
and radio commentator Upton
Close. After writing several
anti - Jewish pamphlets, he
launched his "Intelligence Sum-
Arise, shine; for thy light is
mary" in which he frequently come, and the glory of the Lord
linked Jews and Communists.

200 U. S. Colleges Offer Hebrew

NEW YORK, (JTA)—Over 200
colleges, graduate, and profes-
sional schools offering courses
in Hebrew and Hebrew texts
are listed in "Hebrew in Col-
leges and Universities." The
volume was edited by Judah
Lapson, chairman of the He-
brew Culture Service Commit-
tee for American High Schools
and Colleges.
"Hebrew in Colleges and Uni-
versities' was prepared at the
request of guidance counselors
in American high schools. It

presents state by state all in-
stitutions of higher learning
offering courses in Hebrew
and Hebrew texts.
In an informative introduc-
tion the editor discusses He-
brew as a modern language
and reviews the vocational
and professional opportunities
offered by Hebrew study.

ROME, (JTA) — The Italian
Foreign Minister was urged to
annul the invitation extended
by the Italian government to
Egyptian President Col. Nasser

cow.
The suggestion was voiced
by the leading Italian news-
paper Il Messagero, which
