sion, it is announced by Dr. H.
Maxwell Golden, vice-president
of the Flint Jewish Community
Council.
Assisting Megdell, who was
general chairman of the 1957
drive which raised $190,000,
will be Dr. Eli Bernstein,
Arthur Hurand, Abe Rose and
Jack Sarver.
The initial gifts dinner, which
officially opens the Flint cam-
paign, will be held April 15,
at Beth Israel Synagogue, and
will emphasize the celebration
of Israel's 10th anniversary,

ences and assemblies are slated
to take place in Israel during
the tenth anniversary year
which begins April 22, accord-
ing to word received by the
American Committee for Israel's
Tenth Anniversary Celebration.
These include scientific, reli-
gious, philanthropic, . cultural
and professional organizations.
American. participation in these
gatherings is expected to be
heavy.
An outstanding event will be
an international symposium on
nuclear science May 18-23, at
Rehovoth, to mark the official
inauguration of the Nuclear
Physics Institute of the Weiz-
mann Institute of Science. Par-
ticipants will include Nobel
Laureate Niels Bohr and Prof.
Robert Oppenheimer, director
of the Institute of Advanced
Study.
The first international 'assem-
bly to open the festival period
will take place April 27 at the
Hebrew University, at the cere-
monies opening the Hebrew
Vol. 6, No. 1
University campus.

Dr. Samuel - Goldenson
Fetes 80th Birthday

Dr. Samuel H. Goldenson, at
one time a frequent visitor in
Detroit, on March 26 celebrated
his 80th birthday. He is the
retired spiritual leader of New
York's Temple
Emanu-El.

tirement, Dr.
Goldenson has
served the
'Union of
American He-
brew Congre-
gations by
traveling
throughout the
country on
"preaching
Dr. Goldenson missions" t o
non-Jewish, as well as Jewish
gatherings.
In the 10 years of his travels,
Dr. Goldenson has preached in
45 states, Canada, Cuba, Hawaii
and the Dutch West Indies be-
fore an estimated half million
people.
A graduate of Hebrew Union
College and the University of
Cincinnati, Dr. Goldenson holds
an MA degree and a PhD from
Columbia University.

Rabbi Stollman to Visit
in Detroit Over Passover

Rabbi Isaac Stollman, national
president of the United Religi-
ous Zionists—the merged Miz-
rachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi — will
be home in Detroit during the
Passover holidays.
The orthodox Jewish leader
will be at his home at 2662 Cort-
land. While here, he will par-
ticipate in discussions with lead-
ers of the URZ and also meet
with members of the local rab-
binate.

Pontiac Temple Schedules
Sabbath Vesper Services

Brief vesper services are
planned at 6:15 p.m., today, by
Temple Beth Jacob of Pontiac,
according to Rabbi Nathan
Hershfield. Members will con-
duct home sedorim later in the
evening.
Passover morning services for
the entire family will be held
at 10:30 a.m., Saturday. with
Rabbi Hershfield preaching the
sermon.

Congregational Seder

Temple Emanu-El will hold a
congregational seder at 6:30
pxn., today, in the Esther Katz-
man Hall. The seder will supple-
ment regular Passover and sab-
bath eve services.
Passover services will take
place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, in
the main sanctuary, when Rabbi
Milton Rosenbaum preaches on
"Which Jew Are You?" Music
at the service will be rendered
by the congregation's junior
choir, under the direction of
Mrs. Albert M. Stutz.

Dedicate Hebrew Academy in Oak Park

Dedication exercises at-
tended by over 300 people
last Sunday marked the for-
mal opening of the Hebrew
Academy of Oak Park, an
affiliate of the Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah. In the top

New Suburban.
Building Named
for Goldsteins

Honors and tributes from
many quarters were heaped
upon Mr. and Mrs. Peter S.
Goldstein last Sunday, as the
new Hebrew Academy of Oak
P ark was dedicated in their
honor at 13855 W. 9 Mile Rd.
To be called the Peter and
Pauline Goldstein Building, the
structure already is being used
as the third branch of the Beth
Yehudah Schools, which now
has an enrollment of over 900
students.
The dedication also was
marked by ceremonies dedica-
ting rooms in honor of Mrs.
Sarah Reisman and Mr. David
M. Edelman and in memory of
the late Rubin Kaplan and Mrs.
Pearl Rottenberg.
Sen. Charles E. Potter flew
here from Washington to take
part in the festivities and ex-
tend greetings to more than 300
members of the community who
participated in the program.
Mayor Richard W. Marshall,
of Oak Park, was another prin-
cipal speaker. Others addressing
the gathering were Rabbis Sam-
uel H. Prero, Yaakov I. Hom-
nick, Leo Y. Goldman, Morris
Greenes, Joseph Elias and S. P.
Wohlgelernter.
Given the honor of opening
the doors to the new Hebrew
Academy was Joel Simmer, a
12-year-old grandson of Mr. and
Mrs. Goldstein.
Telegrams and messages of
greetings came from many
cities. One was sent from
Jerusalem from Rabbi Max J.
Wohlgelernter, who is now in
Israel as a member of the
staff of the Chief Rabbinate.
He is the former executive
vice-president of the Yeshivah.
Ernest Citron, chairman of
the board of Young Israel Cen-
ter of Oak-Woods, was the
day's chairman.
