to Play Here April 6

of the Farband Labor Zionist
Organization for the April 6

dish musical program called
"Portraits of Jewish Life."

Dr. Jona Ron, Grand Master
of the Masonic Grand Lodge of
the State of Israel, will be the
guest speaker at a public gath-
ering of Craftsman Lodge No.
521, F&AM, in the Fountain
Ballroom of the Masonic Tein-
ple, Friday evening, March 28.
A dinner will precede the
meeting to which the public is
invited. Jack Kaufman is mas-
ter of Craftsman Lodge. Reser-
vations for the dinner may be
made by calling the entertain-
ment chairman, Bud Leve, UN.

Dr. Ron, who was born in
Germany in 1893, studied many
languages before earning his
medical degree. He served in
the German army in World War
I. He married Dr. Margalit
Kaufman, whose father was an
early follower of Dr. Theodor
Herzl. In 1925 they settled in
Palestine.
Dr. Ron immediately under-
took to master Hebrew and
Arabic. He became a Mason up-
on his arrival in Tel Aviv, was
elected Master Mason of Barkai
Lodge in 1926 and served as
Master until 1933. He founded
the Miffelman-Omen Lodge and
the Ner Tamid Lodge in 1935.
He was elected Deputy Grand
Master in 1952 and in 1956 was
elevated to the post of Most
Worshipful Grand Master of the
Grand Lodge of the State of
Israel.

Eshkol to Confer with
Israel Bond Leaders

Finance Minister Levi Eshkol
Israel will address a special
meeting of the board of gov-
ernors of the Israel Bond drive,
at Hotel Pierre, New York, Sun-
day evening, April 13, it was
announced by Dr. Joseph J.
Schwartz; vice president of the
Israel Bond Organization.
Eshkol is scheduled to arrive
early next month to confer
with Jewish leaders in the
United States ,concerning Is-
rael's financial needs. In his
address to the leaders of the
Israel Bond Organization, the
Israel Finance Minister will re-
port on the country's economic
development program.
Campaign plans for conduct-
ing the sale of $75,000,000 in
Israel Bonds in the United
States, Canada and other parts
of the free world will be con-
sidered at the board of gov-
ernors meeting.

"Inherit the Wind" and "Look
Homeward Angel" will be staged
in Hebrew this season by the
Chamber Theater in Tel Aviv.

Ezra Z. Shapiro, president of
the American Jewish League
for Israel, announced affilia-
tion of the League, pursuant to
a resolution of its board of di-
rectors, with the World Confed-
eration of General Zionists. Sha-
piro returned from London
where he attended the three-
day reorganization meeting of
the world group, which elected
the League's honorary presi-
dent, Judge Louis E. Levinthal,
a member of its executive. Dr.
Israel Goldstein and Mrs. Rose
Halprin were elected co-chair-
men.
