Joanne's first savings account
Opening her. first savings account is a big event in the
life of a little girl. It was a big enough event in the life of
four-year-old Joanne Citron to bring her, in spite of
bitter cold weather on Monday morning February 17,
to the grand opening of the new Schaefer Road branch
office of Standard Federal Savings.
When the important transaction had been completed,
perky little Joanne proudly tucked passbook Number
One into her tiny black purse. Soon her bright red cap
was lost in the crowd of savings customers and the new
branch at 16841 Schaefer Road busied itself providing a
new savings service for Northwest Detroiters. Joanne
Citron's account wasn't the largest opened that day in
terms of dollars, but it meant a lot to her—and to
Standard Federal. This was a'big beginning for both of us!
