Edith Albert Freedman, of Whitmore Rd., is currently
spending some time at Palm Springs, Calif. She will return to
Los Angeles,- where she will be the guest of the Jacobs Alberts
for the remainder of the winter.
Mr. Maurice Si-hvitzer, of Washburn Ave., was entertained
last weekend by his daughters, Mrs. Joseph Plasko, Mrs. Albert
Goldman and Joan. at a cocktail and dinner party celebrating
his 60th birthday. There were 45 members of Mr. Shwitzer's
family at the party, which was held in the home of Mrs. Plasko,
of 18911 Archdale.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Cohan, of 18438 Prairie, are leaving
Saturday for a three-month trip abroad. They will be in Israel
for two months, where they will be visiting relatives not seen
for 35 years.
Mrs. Sarah DeRoven has left for a several months' stay in
Israel. She will celebrate her 70th birthday in the Jewish State.

Habonim Appoints
Hurwitz as Director

Meir Hurwitz, recently ap-
pointed director of Detroit Ha-
bonim, announces that a variety
of programs is being planned
for members in the next few
weeks.
The program will open with
a Purim carnival on March 8,
at the Hayim Greenberg Cen-
ter, 19161 Schaefer. Regular
meetings are held at 7 p.m.
each Sunday at the Center for
young men and women, 15 to 23.
Hurwitz, who just completed
six months in the U.S. Army, is
a former resident of Pittsburgh.
He is now studying civil engi-
neering at Wayne State Univer-
sity, since coming here to work
with Habonim.
Information about the organi-
zation, which is the youth affili-
ate of the Labor Zionist Move-

bride of Daniel Peter Marcus,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mar-
cus, of St. Mary's Ave., in a
double-ring ceremony recently
at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in
Beverly Hills, Calif.
Following a honeymoon at
Palm Springs, the newlyweds
returned to San Francisco,
where Mr. Marcus is stationed
with the U.S. Army Engineering
Corps.
The new Mrs. Marcus is a
graduate of the University of
Michigan school of education,
and is presently teaching at Mt.
Eden, Calif.. Mr. Marcus, a grad-
uate of Wayne State Univer-
sity's college of engineering,
was affiliated with Sigma Alpha
Mu fraternity, and was elected
to Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Pi
honorary societies.
The couple is residing at 2032

to Wed in California

The highly successful open-
