died Feb. 13. He had resided at
1501 Balmoral.
Services for Mr. Kukes, presi-
dent of Michigan Screw Prod-
ucts Co. and a vice-president of
the Michigan Bolt and Nut Co.,
were at the Ira Kaufman
Chapel.
He had served as a board
member of the United Hebrew
Schools and the Jewish Chau-
tauqua Society, and was a mem-
ber of Franklin Hills Country
Club, Bnai Brith, Craftsman
Lodge, F. & A. M. and the
Shriners.
Mr. Kukes was affiliated with
Temple Beth El, Cong. Shaarey
Zedek and Beth Abraham Syna-
gogue, and belonged to num-
erous trade organizations as well
as the Standard Club, Detroit
Symphony Society and Detroit
Board of Commerce.
Mr. Kukes, who was a grad-
uate of the Wayne State Uni-
versity law school, leaves his
wife, Beatrice; two sons, Gary
and Roger; two daughters,
Nancy and Tobe; two brothers,
Ellwood L. and Harold B.; and
three sisters, Mrs. Manuel M.
Rosenthal, Mrs. Morris Leon

Dewey Stone's Father Dies

Morris L. Stone, father of Dew-
ey D. Stone, noted American
Jewish leader, died here Feb.
16 at the age of 89. Active in
Jewish affairs during his life-
time, Stone was a life member
of the Zionist Organization of
America. He is survived by six
children, 11 grandchildren, and
26 great-grandchildren.
