10-Day Celebration for New Branch

Celebrating the opening of its
newest branch office, Standard
Federal Savings and Loan Asso-
ciation will hold open house for
a 10-day period; beginning Mon-
day and continuing through
Feb. 28.
The ultra-modern branch of-
fice, located at 16841 Schaefer,
opposite the Mercury Theater,

will open at 10 a.m., Monday, in
its own building, designed by
George D. Mason and Co., archi-
tects.
Using the theme, "We know
you are coming, so we've baked
a cake"—thousands of them, a
big full-sized Sanders layer cake
will be given to each person
opening a savings account of
$10 or more during the 10-day
period.
In addition to the cake,
those who open accounts of
$100 or more will receive their
choice of a handy, metal lock
box for storing valuables or
an attractive, modern child's
chair.
_ Throughout the first week
of the open house, radio sta-
tion WXYZ will broadcast day-
time programs from its mobile
studio, located at the site of
the new building.
A special invitation has been
extended to all residents of
the neighborhood to visit the
branch office during the grand
opening. Special -hours during
the period will be from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to
Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 8
p.m., Friday.
Nine prominent Detroiters,
all business and professional
men, contribute regularly of

their experience in the opera-
tion of Standard Federal Sav-
ings.
Chairman of the board is
Howard C. Baldwin, an attor-
ney, while board members in-
clude Oscar L. Bard, James H.
Garlick, Robert J. Hutton,
treasurer of Standard Federal
Savings; James B. Ogden, Wil-
son R.. Paxton, secretary of
Standard Federal Savings; Wal-
ter J. L. Ray, president; Robert
M. Toms, Wayne County Cir-
cuit Court' Judge; and Robert
F. Weber.
With the opening of the new
Schaefer branch, Robert J.
Hutton, treasurer, called atten-
tion to the 65-
year-old firm's

annual divi-

on savings ac-
counts. He
added that
