Bulletins Cite Work
of Music Study Club
in Aiding Israel

The Music Study Club of De-
troit and the work it does for
Israel through its Dora and
Julius Green Foundation has
gained world-wide recognition
through stories printed recent-
ly in two bulletins reaching
thousands of people through-
out the globe.
In the December edition of
the American Friends of the
Hebrew University Bulletin,
Mrs. Julius Chajes, Detroit so-
prano and teacher, is praised
for her efforts in obtaining a
shipment of contemporary
music for the Hebrew Uni-
versity's Jewish National and
University Library.
The shipment was sent by
E. Hartmann, of Vienna with
costs paid for by the Green
Fund of the Music Study Club,
Of which Mrs Gertude Gordon
is chairman. -
The article and another in
Scopus, issued in Jerusalem by
the Herbrew University, calls
attention to a gift of a rare
clavicord to the university's
department.
The instrument currently
occupies a prominent position
in the library's music depart-
ment, where students and music
lovers can see the predecessor
to the piano and hear the music
as it sounded when composed
in the 16th and 17th centuries.
