Stone Foundation
to Host Youngsters

Taking an active part in the
Louis Stone Memorial Founda-
tion which on Wednesday will
take 40 bus-loads of under-
privileged children to the
Shrine Circus, are several men
of the local community.
Originally formed by druggist
Louis Stone, the Foundation's
work was later carried on by
the late Judge 0. Z. Ide.
Upon Judge Ide's death,
leadership was assumed by Rec-
order's Judge Paul E. Krause,
assisted by Probate Judge Na-
than J. Kaufman, Judge Elvin
Davenport, and Prosecuting At-
torney Samuel H. Olsen.
Among the members of the
Foundation's executive commit-
tee, in addition to Judge Kauf-
man, are Martin Barahl, -Larry
Gubow, Joseph H. Jones, Dr.
Edward Kozlow, Robert Kozlow,
John Kronenberg, Beryl Leve,
Joseph Lunenfeld, Danny Ras-
kin, Jack Schwartz and and
Meyer Silverman.

Center Camera Club Meets

The Gold Star Parents of
Michigan's Jewish Veterans
recently honored Mrs. Philip
Bernstein and Sandford Roth-
man, at a brunch, for their
"devoted efforts" as co-chair-
men of the Golden Book Com-
mittee.
The Golden Book is a vol-
ume which contains pictures
and hand lettered histories of
each of the 300 Michigan Jew-
ish servicemen who perished
in World War II and Korea.
The book is on permanent
display in a glass •case in the
Memorial Room of the JWV
Memorial Home. Each day, a
page is turned in the volume
displaying the image and his-
tpry of a different serviceman.
The histories a're in alpha-
betical arrangement, ending
with congressional medal of
honor winner Raymond Zuss-
man. The book was dedicated
last May 5.
Meyer Silverman, a past
president of the Gold Star
Parents presented Mrs. Bern-
stein and Rothman each with
a beautiful Bible, for their
efforts over the five years it
took to prepare the Golden
Book. .Others participating in
the Program were Samuel
Rhodes, Boris Joffe and Walter
Kline, president of the Memo-
rial Home •Aassociation. Aaron
Canner is the president of
Gold Star Parents.
Mrs. Bernstein is a past
Department president of the
JWV . -Ladies Auxiliary and a
past president of the Leogue of

ting for the marriage of Carole
Polinsky, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Maur i c e Polinsky, of
Woodingham Dr., and Jerry
- Mark Shuck, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James E. Shuck, of Cincin-
nati, 0.
Officiating at the double-ring
rites held at Rainbow Terrace
was Dr. Julius Mark, senior
rabbi of New York's Temple
Emanu-El, an uncle of the.
bridegroom.
The bride's ballerina - length
gown was made of' blush .pink
peau de soie and covered by
net • and inserts of white Chan-
tilly lace in the bouffant skirt.
The heart-shaped neckline and
short sleeves were entirely of
white lace.
Her headpiece of lace and
sequins was secured by a fin-
gertip veil, and she carried a
prayerbook arrangement of
white orchids and stephanotis.
Lois Polinsky, the bride's
sister, was her maid of honor,
and bridesmaids were Rochelle
Aisen, Phyllis Barr, Elinor Ber-
lin and Eileen Simon.
The bridegroom's brother,
Stanley M. Shuck, was his best
man, while ushers were Fred-
erick FriedMan, Allan Doelling,
Irvin Gettleman and Neil Bortz,
all of Cincinnati.
The couple will reside in Cin-
cinnati, where both are students
at the University of Cincinnati.
Out-of-town guests attending
the ceremony were from Cin-
cinnati, Miami Beach, Fla.,
Huntington, W. Va., Evansville,
Ind., Mansfield, 0., Columbus,
0., Youngstown, 0. and New
York City.

Labor Zionists Plan
Seminar On Israel

At its January meeting the
Council of the Labor Zionist
Organization of America com-
pleted plans for a Mid West
Regional Seminar to be held
on Mar ch 22 and 23. The
theme of the Seminar will be
"60 Years of Zionism and 10
Years of Israel." Speakers at
the sessions will be Professor
Ezra Spicehandler and soci-
ologist Marshall Sklare. Her-
bert Pincus, chairman of ar-
rangements, will be assisted by
Lester Blickstein and Henry
Faigin and Mesdames Harold
Noveck, Ben Harold, I r v i n g
Posner.
Plans were also submitted
for the commemoration of Ber
Borochov, the founding leader
of Labor Zionism on the 40th
anniversary of his death. Part
of the memorial to Rim would
be the raising of funds for the
dedication of a cultural center
presently being constructed in
Kiryat Borochov in memory of
Simon Richardson, late Zionist
leader. The Detroit share of
the building fund was set at
$20,000.
The Council also voted to
undertake a membership drive
that would eventually double
their membership.
