Hadassah's Great Role in Israel

By ANNA G. SLOMOVITZ

JERUSALEM — Wherever one
moves in Israel, there is the evi-
dence of the work of the great
women's Zionist organization
Hadassah.
Forced out of the Mount Scopus
Hospital, Hadassah has speedily
recaptured leadership in the
efforts to protect the health of
Israel's population. The new Ha-
daisah hospital and its projected
modern medical center that is
allied with the Hebrew University
are models in hospitalization, in
research and in medical services.
Besides, Hadassah's m e d i cal
center now houses the new dental
laboratories, which were dedicated

during our recent visit in Israel.
Detroit dentists playgd significant
roles in advancing the dental
school plans; just as the women
of Detroit are sharing so vitally
in all of the medical activities of
Hadassah.
Bet Mazmil, the\ Hadassah re-
habilitation center in Jerusa-
lem, is one of the landmarks
of the Jewish State, and the
excellent results of this center's
activities are in evidence where-
ever one turns.
It also is to Hadassah's credit
that its leaders are always ready
to assist visitors' in seeing the
land and in assisting them in
their shopping. There is lots of

good shopping to be done in
Israel, and the Hadassah guides
are excellent advisors — whether
you go to the WIZO or any other
shops. There. are Hadassah tourist
guiding centers in Jerusalem and
in Tel Aviv, and the receptions
visitors receive there are hearten-
ing.

You can't speak of Hadassah's
health efforts without referring to
the child care centers, where the
health of the newcomers and
those without means is protected.
Out of these centers emerge
stronger men and women who, in
the course of time, become valu-
able assets in Israel's progressive
state.
