Bnai Brith 'Star Night' for Bonds
Thursday; M. Samuel to Speak

The Greater Detroit Bnai
Brith Council this week sent out
a call to each of its lodges and
chapters to actively participate
in its campaign to build a vil-
lage in Israel, through the sale
of State of Israel Development
Bonds.
The rallying point for this
drive is a "Star Night for Is-
rael," Thursday, Jan. 30, 8 p.m.,
at Congregation Beth Abraham,
8100 W. 7-Mile Road.
According to the Bnai Brith
Council president, Harry N.
Katz, an Israel Bond committee
has been formed, including
Chairman Ernest Curtis, Phil-
more A. Leemon, Elias Gold-
berg and Max Schulzinger, to
work closely with each lodge
and chapter Israel Bond chair-
man to secure maximum sales
for the "Star Night" affair.

CHARLES ROSENGARTEN
of Waterbury, Connecticut was
named chairman of the provi-
sional committee of the World
Council of Synagogues, organ-
ized last November at the bi-
ennial convention of the United
Synagogue.

Maurice Samuel, noted au-
thor, will speak at this affair.
A special 10th anniversary
certificate will be awarded from
the Israel Bond organization to
each lodge or chapter selling
$3,000 in Bonds. This amount is
required to build one housing
unit in the young democracy.

BONN. — Chancellor Konrad
Adenauer Tuesday assured Dr.
Nahum Goldmann, chairman of
the Conference of Material
Claims Against Germany, that
the West German Government
would continue to implement
the restitutions agreement with-
out any change.
Dr. Goldmann reported that
the assurance followed arousal
of concern among Nazi victims
by statements of Bonn Minister
of Justice Dr. Fritz Schaeffer,
who proposed changes in the
compensation laws. Dr. Schaef-
fer had alleged fears that com-
pensation claims would far ex-
