Mr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Miller, of 2750 Elmhurst, recently
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together with their
family. Mr. Miller, 77, and his wife, Dora, 72, have been Detroit
residents since arriving here from Chicago 45 years ago. They
have a son, Herbert, a daughter, Mrs. William Brookstein, and
three grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gordon, of Hartford, Conn., were honored
recently on their 60th wedding anniversary with a host of cards,
telegrams and flowers which arrived from the Detroit friends
of their children, Mr. and Mrs. Hyman B. Gordon, of 18653 Santa
Barbara.
Attending the recent' national convention of Delta Phi Epsi-
lon sorority at the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago were Tobye
Hollander, past president of the Wayne State University chapter,
and Sharon Linden, of the Detroit Alumnae group. Miss Linden,
who gave the invocation at the sabbath eve banquet, was elected
sergeant-at-arms for the busineSs sessions. She also accepted by
proxy the annual Alumnae Service Award bestowed on Detroit
Alumnae president, Una Goodman.
Mrs. Harold Schakne, of 18464 Westland, Southfield Town-
ship, recently opened her home to the 125 captains and workers
in the March of Dimes. Mrs. Schakne is Southfield March of
Dimes, chairman. Guest speaker at the dessert luncheon was
the Rev. Bert Hodgson, chairman of the Oakland County March
of Dimes.
In honor of the graduation of their son, Mitchell Rycus,
from the University of Michigan, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rycus, of
20482 Gardendale, will hold open hoVse from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday.

Mr.- and Mrs. Morris Pearl (Janet Jackson, of Detroit) are
now residing in their new home at 237 Askin Blvd., Windsor,
Ont.
Mrs. Annie Handelsman and daughter, Ethel, formerly
of East Jefferson Ave., are now in their new residence at 980
Whitmore Rd.
In addition to Prof. •William Haber, of the University of
Michigan, president of the American ORT Federation, Detroiters
who attended the ORT conference in New York last week in-
cluded Hoke Levin, Boris Joffe and Dr. Shmarya Kleinman.
• Miss Judith Sharon, eight-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Koven, of Buffalo, N. Y., and granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Maurice Furstenberg, of this city, was recently. heard in
a piano recital. Among her selections were works by Chopin,
Foster . and Beethoven.
A triple birthday party was given recently in honor of SOl
Penskar, Robert Penskar and Norman Sable, at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sable, of Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park.
