A "fashion show," specially

Cong. Bnai David Moves Offices
to New Southfield Synagogue

Cong. Bnai David, for 30 years
located at 14th St. and Elmhurst
in Detroit, has officially moved
to its new quarters at 23450
Southfield, in Southfield Town-
ship.
Now under the spiritual lead-
ership of Rabbi Hayim Donin,
the congregation is in its fourth
permanent location. Organized
in 1892, the original synagogue
was located on Adelaide be-
tween Hastings and Rivard.
As of last Sunday, the con-
gregation's general offices, rab-
bi's study and general activities
were moved to the new struc-
ture.
Daily and sabbath services,
however, will remain at the old
¶uilding until there are special
ceremonies conducted to mark
the transfer of the Sifrei Torah
to the new structure.
The newly-finished building,
which occupies over 19,000
square feet, -is only the first
part of the congregation's build-
ing program. Future plans call
for the addition of a main sanc-
tuary seating over 1,200 people
and classrooms for 15 classes.
Me an w h i l e, the religious
school meets regularly at the

Francis Scott Key School in Oak
Park.
The new building cost about
$500,000, and contains an as-
sembly hall for social functions,
This also will serve as the sanc-
tuary temporarily. The ceiling
design and a completely solid
glass wall with sliding glass
doors leading out to a patio,
adds great beauty to the ovew
all design.

By the Oak-Woodser
Suburbanites out South Oak-
land County way will be talking
for some time about the "Oak
Park Follies," a variety show
presented for three successive
nights last week in the Oak
Park High School.
Playing before capacity audi-
ences on all three evenings, it
was hoped the show would run
last Saturday night for an nn-
scheduled fourth performance,
however, a number of people in
the 90-member cast had com-
mitted themselves to other
plans.
Meanwhile, students, parents
and teachers all combined their
energies and talents to produce
,a 29-act show, complete with
singing, dancing,- instrumental
numbers and comedy.
Serving as master of cere-
monies and doing a splendid
job ad libbing between acts
and introducing others was
James (Groucho) Rachleff,
who had some capable assist-
ance from OP High senior
Bill Anton.
Acts added to the original
program which did not receive
prior publicity included songs
and instrumentals by Barney
Warren, Lynne Rosenthal, Phyl-
lis Balamut, Marilyn Arlin,
Shelly Cherin, Rita Sloan, Lou
Melton and Mrs. Sam Gussin.
For any show, too, there are
behind-the-scenes credits to be
given, and among these were
