Louis Applebaum Back
as Director of Music
at Stratford Festival

Applebaum, Canadian composer .
and conductor, returns to the
Stratford Festival as general
music director. He will be
joined by Ezra Schabas, public
relations director of the Royal
Conservatory of Music, who
will manage the 1958 Music
Festival season.
Applebaum, in addition to
composing music for the dra-
matic offerings each year since
the festival's inception, was re-
sponsible for the creation and
direction of the music festi-
vals. Schabas directs the Con- 1
servatory's artist bureau and
all publicity and concerts at
the school.
"The 1958 music festival in-
cludes opera, orchestral and
jazz concerts, running in con-
junction with the annual sea-
son of drama," Mr. Schabas
said. "Details on artists and
programs will be announced on
January 21."

The premiere showing in De-
troit of new -paintings by
