Misc Nedelman Wed Sports in Israel
in Double-Ring Rites to Get Boost

MRS. MAURICE BE-TMAN

Bernice Nedelman, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nedel-
man, of Elmhurst Ave., became
the bride of Maurice Betman,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bet-
man,,of Tuller Ave., in a double-
ring ceremony at Beth Aaron
Synagogue on Dec. 22. Rabbi
Benjamin Gorrelick and Cantor
Ihil Gildin officiated.
The bride wore a gown of
white silk taffeta designed with
a scoop decolletage outlined
with soft tucks and appliques of
Alencon lace. The same ap-
pliques were scattered over the
front bodice and skirt and
around the hem of the bouffant
skirt which terminated in a
court train. She completed her
ensemble with a seed pearl
crown which held her tiered il-
lusion veil.
Mrs. Joseph Grossman, twin
sister of the bride, served as
matron of honor. Bridesmaids
were Mrs. Larry Nedelman,
Mrs. Stan Becker, Mrs. Joseph
Bale and Mrs. Joseph Manela.
Denise Bale was junior brides-
maid.
Earl Kendler served as best
man. Ushers were Larry Nedel-
man, Joseph Grossman, Joe
Manela and Harvey Rosenberg.
Ronald Bale was junior usher.
After a honeymoon in Miami,
Fla. and Havana, the couple
will reside on Votrobeck Dr.

This year's featured speaker
at the donor event will be Rabbi
Daniel Jeremy Silver, associate
rabbi with his father, Dr. Abba
Hillel Silver, at The Temple,
Cleveland. The guest artist will
be the noted dramatic artist,
Stine Harand.
Mrs. Albert Schneider is this
year's donor chairman. Her co-
chairmen are Mesdames Jack
Seidman and Edward Wishnet-
sky. The donor secretarial staff
includes Mrs. Joseph Green-
baum, chairman, and Mesdames
Charles Friedenberg, Irving
Bloom, Sam Rosenblatt and Leo
Lesser.

To Wed in Tune

The official formation of a
Detroit Chapter of the United
States Committee for Sports in
Israel 'will take place • at a
meeting planned for 8 p.m.,
Jan. 21, in the Esther Berman
Bldg., Schaefer and W. 7 Mile
Rd.
Arrangements have been
made to have Sid Luckman, the
all-time great quarterback of
the Chicago Bears professional
football team, and Col. Harry
Henshel, chairman of the U.S.
Committee for Sports in Israel,
as guest speakers.
Movies will be shown of the
Fifth Maccabiah Games that
took place in Israel this fall by
Byron Krieger, Detroit's only
representative at the games.
Krieger won two gold medals
for victories in the fencing
competition.
The films will be narrated
sports personality. The commit-
tee has sent such sports celebri-
ties as Bob Kipputh, swimming
coach; Parry O'Brien, shot put-
ter; hurdles champion Harrison
Dillard and a host of others to
Israel to give instruction and
promote goodwill. _
The specific Detroit project,
Fishman said, would be to be-
gin baseball in the state of
Israel. Considered the "favorite
American pastime," baseball
definitely has a place in Israel's
future; Fishman said.
