Miss Lewis Engaged JWB Opens Morale Plan t

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Keep-

ing pace with the fast changing
needs of the nation's armed
forces, the National Jewish
Welfare Board (JWB) this
week inaugurated a complete
religious, cultural and recrea-
tional program for Jewish per-
sonnel at the Redstone Arsenal
here where the Jupiter missile
is being developed. This is the
first total morale program for
Jewish service people at a U. S.
missile base.

Volunteer of Week

Although active as a volun-
teer worker for the Jewish
Family and Children's Service
for only a year, Mrs. Donald
Pomeroy of 14947 Littlefield,
has been honored with the Vol-
unteer of the Week citation of
the United Community Services.
Her work for JFCS began
when she answered a call by
the agency for a volunteer with
a car. Since that time, Mrs.
Pomeroy has placed both her-
self and her auto at the disposal
of JFCS.
Her principal work is trans-
porting .children and older peo-
ple to and from medical and
dental appointments, although
she also drives staff workers to
homes of clients living in the
suburban areas.
Mrs. Pomeroy, the mother of
an eight-year-old son and al
busy homemaker, none-the-less
is always eager to complete an
assignment for the JFCS.
It is for this record of service
that she has been awarded the
Volunteer of the Week - cita-
tion. A community service pin
accompanied the citation.

color to the forthcoming book,
the staff hopes to retain this
honor.

Mumford tankmen stroked
their way to a fourth place vic-
tory in the recent All-City meet
at Patton Pools. Congratulations
to Barry Shapiro for his record-
breaking time in the breast
stroke earning him a second
All-City stripe.
Also breaking a record of last
year was the medley relay team
consisting of Barry Shapiro,
John Marx, Robert Jones and
Jerry Nosanchuk.
Jerry Feldstein placed first
in the 100 yard butterfly stroke.
Old friends will gather to-
night at the Annual Alumni
Dance. Proceeds go towards va-
rious school projects, such as
the Alumni Lounge in front of
the office.

"Our aim is ever upward,
our goal is yet unseen," the
12A class motto, was chosen
at a senior meeting last week.
Class colors also were picked.
The choice: royal blue and
powder blue.

Senior activity will resume
after vacation as plans for an
ice skating—tobogganing party
at Rouge Park, Jan. 3, were an-
nounced by 12A social commit-
tee chairmen; Roseann Kroker
and Arnie Berlin. There will
be an "after-party" at the home
of 'Lite Ronald Cornish.
