Actively associated with Jew-
ish communal work throughout

and teacher, Prof. Kallen was a
close friend and collaborator of
the late Justice Louis D. Bran-
deis while Brandeis spearhead-
ed the Zionist movement. To-
gether with the late Dr. Ste-
phen S. Wise he helped to con-
vene the historic sessions of the
American Jewish Congress at
the close of World War. I, and
has been active-in the Congress
ever since. - - .
Dr. Kallen'S major interest in
recent years has been the cause
of Jewish' education. • He is giv-

ing of, his . time, energy, and
means -to -the American Associa-
tion for Jewish Education, of
which he is vice-president.
Prof. Kallen,,author of many
books dealing with philosophy

and sociology and various as-
pects of Jewish life, is chair-
man of the . Department of Phil-

osophy- and Psychology of the
New School for Social Research.
He previously taught at Prin-
ceton, Harvard, and the Uni-
versity of Wisconsin.
