Sharon E. Warshaw,
Harvey Bard to Wed
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dreylinger, of 21910 Avon, Oak Park,
will honor their daughter, Molly, with a sweet sixteen party on
Saturday, at Kingsley Inn.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Barach, of Brooklyn, N.Y. were here
during the Thanksgiving holiday week to visit with their chil-
dren, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Epel, of Leslie Ave., and their four
grandchildren. The holiday visit is an annual reunion for the
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Shapiro (Mae Kroll) and son, Dennis,
formerly of Calvert Ave., are now in their new home at 19372
Mansfield.
Mr. Marvin Siof, of 19791 Ardmore, is–currently vacationing
in Europe, where he will spend the winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shapiro, of 21650 Westhampton, Oak
Park, have returned from a week's stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
They were guests of a beauty supply house, which awarded
prizes to leading beauticians. The award was won by Mr. Shapiro.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shapiro and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kief
and son, of this city, are spending the Thanksgiving holidays
with Dr. and Mrs. M. Alpern, of East Liverpool, Ohio.
Mrs. Edwin Liss, of Philadelphia, Pa., national vice-chan-
cellor of Iota Alpha Pi sorority, was entertained recently at a
formal tea given by the sorority's Nu Chapter at Wayne State
University. The tea, at which Miss Marilyn Klein poured, was
held in the home of Mrs. David A. Goldman, of .Briarcliff Rd.
PW Council Sets $100,000 Goal
Working to raise $100,000 as
a special 10th anniversary gift
for the state of Israel, the De-
troit Council of Pioneer Women
is currently making last minute
preparations for its annual
donor event, to be held at 8:30
p.m., Dec. 8, in the Ford audi-
torium.
Hundreds of local women
have participated in activities
leading up to the donor, which
will highlight the appearance of
David Tesher, Consul General
of Israel; Joey Adams, star of
radio, television and screen;
and Rita Wayne, lyric soprano,
who will be accompanied by

For the last two years, Pio-
neer Women has sent almost
$2,000,000 annually to Moetzet
Hapoalot, its sister organization
in Israel, states Mrs. Irving
Turner, Council president.
This year, the national group
adopted a $2,500,000 budget at
its convention in Boston, spe-
cifically to establish two re-
gional training centers for new
immigrants.
One will be situated at Bet
Shemesh in the Jerusalem Cor-
ridor, and the second will be
erected in the Lachish area.
Together they will provide
training facilities for more than
1,000 newcomers a year.
Mrs. Avner Naggar is in
charge of the program arrange-
ments. Mrs. Sam Wasserman,
Council vice-president of funds,
will report on the campaign,
and Mrs. Turner will extend
greetings.
500 Attend Branckis
Black Tie Dinner
Over 500 Detroiters attended
the sixth annual Brandeis Uni-
versity Associates dinner-dance,
held recently at the Sheraton-
Cadillac Hotel.
Sharing the platform at the
black tie event were Dr. Abram
Sachar, president of Brandeis
University, who was guest
speaker, and comedian Sam
Levenson, the evening's guest
artist.
During his brief address, Dr.
Sachar welcomed to member-
ship in the university's board of
fellows C. Allen Harlan, local
industrialist and philanthrop-
ist.
Other Detroiters who are
members of the board are Sid-
ney J. Allen, Nate S. Shapero,
Abe Shiffman and Leonard N.
Simons.
