Detroit's Mizrachi-Hapoel Ha-
mizrachi Organization an-
nounced this week that the
eminent physicist, Dr. Jacob E.
Goldman, has been named to
act as toastmaster at the annual
Bar-Ilan University banquet, to
be held Jan. 7 at Latin Quarter.
Rabbi Mordecai Kirschblum
and Brig. Gen. S. L. A. Mar-
shall will be the guest speakers
at the dinner and there will be
a musical program featuring
Mischa Mischakoff, Julius
Chajes and Paul Olefsky.
Proceeds of the banquet will
go towards the support of the
Bar-Ilan University in Israel.
Dr. Goldman received his
undergraduate training at Ye-
shiva University. He also re-
ceived a Teachers Diploma hav-
ing graduated from its Teach-

Dr. Goldman Named Chairman of

In July, 1955, Dr. Gold-
man moved to Detroit to ac-
cept a position as manager
of the physics department at
the Ford Motor Company
Scientific Laboratory where
he now has direction of
Ford's many involvements in
physics and atomic research.
He has been an associate edi-
tor of the American Journal
of Physics, is the editor of
a recently published book on
"The Science of Engineering
Materials" and has authored
more than 40 papers and con-
tributions to the scientific
literature. Prior to moving to
Detroit, he was active in the
Jewish Community of Pitts-
burgh having served on the
