Wayne State Students Music Study Club Artist Concert
Announce Betrothal to Feature Pianist Ruth Meckler
Ruth Meckler, 20-year old
concert pianist, will be guest
artist at the Music ,Study Club
Annual Artist Concert, set for
8:30 p.m., Dec. 1, in the Detroit
Institute of Arts.
Miss Meckler, winner of the
1957 Grinnell scholarship, is a
student at Curtis Institute in
Philadelphia, where she is un-
der the guidance of Rudolf
Serkin and Mieczyslaw Horszow-
ski.

ship when she was 10 years of
age. At 11, she placed first in
the adult division of the Chopin
Commemorative Contest here.
At 15, she was national runner-
up in the Federations of Music
Clubs' Stillman-Kelly auditions.
The Music Study Club also
awarded her with the Gwladys
Luloff Award, in 1952. The
young pianist has appeared as
soloist with the Detroit, South
Oakland County and Kalamazoo
Symphony Orchestras.
