Name Delegates 10th
Anniversary

to NFTB Parley service

Announcement was made this
week of members of the men's
clubs of Temple Beth El and
Temple Israel who have been
named delegates to the 17th
biennial convention of the Na-
tional Federation of Temple
Brotherhoods.
The parley, which is being
held Nov. 7 to 10, in Pittsburgh,
will be attended by the follow-
ing Detroiters:
Charles F. Rosen, president,
Ben Nathanson, vice-president,
and William C. Sloman, a past
president and member . of the
NFTB national executive board;
all of Temple Beth El; and Hy-
man M. Jackson, president,
Charles Goldstein, a candidate
for the NFTB board, Robert
Rosen, Irving Levy, Morton
Hack, Ben Keywell and Morton
Barris, of Temple Israel.
Irving I. Katz, executive sec-
retary of Beth El, will be a
delegate, and will deliver a
paper at the convention on
"What Temple Executive Sec-
retaries Can Do for Brother-
hoods."
A special banquet has been
arranged for the evening of
Nov. 9, when Sen. Jacob K.
Javits, of New York, will speak
on the Middle East crisis.
Rabbi Maurice N. Eisendrath,
pr esident of the Union of
American Hebrew Congrega-
tions, will be guest speaker at
-the luncheon session the follow-
ing day.
Other convention sessions
will be devoted to special re-
ports and recommendations on
NFTB programs and policies,
the Jewish Chautauqua Society
and workshops.
The Federation comprises
360 men's clubs in Reform con-
gr e ga tions throughout the
United States and Canada.

Benjamin H. Gorrelick conduct-
ing the service and Cantor Ihil
Gildin officiating with the as-
sistance of the synagogue's
choir under the direction of
Morris Skolnick.
The service will pay tribute
to the synagogue's religious
school on its completion of 10
years of existence. Rabbi Gor-
relick will preach on "Ten
Years of Eternal Life."
Tribute also will be paid to
Dr. Marvin Last and Bernard
Panuih who have served as
chairman of the committee and
director of the school, respec-
tively, for the entire 10 years.
Participating in the service
will be the officers of the syna-
gogue, headed by Phillip S.
Chapnick, president, members
of the school committee, the
teaching staff and the graduates
and confirmands of the school
during the past years.
The social hour will be pro-
vided by Mr. and Mrs. David
Goldsmith in honor of their
silver w e d d i n g- anniversary.
Goldsmith is active in the syna-
gogue's youth activities pro-
gram.

Bnai Israel's President
At a recent election meet-
ing, Bnai Israel Synagogue
chose Albert Shapiro president.
Dan Alpert was elected vice-
president, Sam Cooper, treas-
urer; and Morris Covensky, sec-
retary; Rabbi Israel Flam is
spiritual • leader of the syna-
gogue, the oldest orthodox con-
gregation in Detroit.
