City's League of Jewish Women
Danny Raskin's Tea, Donor Luncheon in the Offing
for 30-Year-Old Zedakah Club
to Celebrate Thirtieth. Anniversary

The community has been in-
vited to participate in the 30th
anniversary celebration of the
League of Jewish Women's Or-
ganizations, set for 12:30 p.m.,
Thursday, at Temple Emanuel,
W. 10 Mile at Greenfield. Mrs.
Louis Kazdan, president of the
league, will preside at the
gathering.
The League, which contains
some 150 Jewish women's or-
ganizations, is a constituent
body of the National Federated
Bureau of JeWish Women's Or-
ganizations.
Mrs. David J. Cohen and Mrs.
Paul Feldman, program co-
chairmen, will present the pro-

Ben J. Feldstein and Mrs. Ger-
ald E. Goldberg are in charge

Plans for one of the League
projects, - the Mildred Simons
Rosenberg Memorial Youth
Awards, are being formulated
by Mrs. Theodore Bergman,
youth awards • chairinan. The
awards are given out annually.
Beginning Nov. 21, applica-
tions , will be available for high
school students in the eleventh
and twelfth grades. Appli-
cants must excel scholastically,
have a background • of Jewish
education, community participa-
tion, leadership and interest in
athletics or hobbies. The win-
ning boy will receive a silver
kiddush cup. A silver menorah
will be given to the winning

Over 30 years ago, a group of by Mrs. Jack Miller, donor
women who met as a weekly chairman. It will be held at

helping others less -fortunate.
They began by providing lay-
ettes for expectant mothers, but
during the depression they ex-
panded the membership to pro-
vide emergency aid wherever
needed.' It was during this time
that the group adopted the
name Zedekah Club.
Now working in cooperation
with the Jewish Family and
Child Service (formerly JSSB)
and the city Welfare Depart-
ment, Zedakah Club is concen-
trating on aid for the indigent

aged who are not housed in the
Home for Aged.
The major portion of the
group's funds come from pro-
ceeds of the annual donor
luncheon, which this year will
be held Dec. 4, at the Sheraton-
Cadillac Hotel.
In order to better acquaint
members with the work of the
group a tea has been planned
