Hebrew Union College Prints Comparative Religion ex
OFNICINNATI — The beliefs
and practices of the great reli-
gions of the world are set forth
with explanatory maps and
charts for Jewish religious
school pupils in a-new textbook
just published by the depart-
ment of Jewish religious educa-
tion of Hebrew Union College-
Jewish Institute of Religion,
here.
The new volume, "Our Reli-
gion and Our Neighbors" is the
joint work of Dr. Sylvan
Schwartzman, professor of
Jewish religious education at
the Cincinnati school of the
College-Institute and Rabbi Mil-
ton G. Miller, rabbi of Temple
Beth El, Elizabeth, N.J.
The text, which originated as
a rabbinic student thesis under
Dr. Schwartzman's direction
and guidance, is directed for use
with ninth grade children.

The book consists of more
than 350 pages concentrated on
the religions of the western
world: Roman Catholicism,
Protestantism, Eastern Ortho-
doxy and Judaism. The reli-
gions of the East —Moham-
medanism, Hinduism, Buddhism
and Confucianism—are treated
more briefly. In the 19th and
final chapter, a comparison of
the great religions of the mod-
ern world is presented.
